I don't give my baby juice at all and she is 17 months old, she only eats cut fruits which is heatlthy , also if children getting used drinking juice, they feel full and they skip lunch or dinner.. my advise no juice at all..

At my 6 month appt. my Dr. said to still hold off on juice "...it isn't really healthy anyway." he said.

hi i give my little boy juice when he was 4 months old and he loves it and hes 8 months old now, baby juice is made for babys from 4 months onwards, my health visitor and GP have told me that its fine in moderations, only give baby little amounts at a time till babys tummy gets used to it, i started of with 2oz once a day and gradgually put it up an ounce at a time, he now has water throughout the day if hes thirsty and has about 6oz of juice with his dinner as well as 3 bottles of formula a day. also my mother gave me baby juices when i was 16 weeks old to stop me from dehydrating because i wouldnt take water at all and im healthy and have healthy teeth, i honestly dont think it will do baby any harm, but its up to you and do what you think is best, good luck.

Well doctors say now that you should wait to give juice until a baby is 6 months old because of the risk of an allergic reaction. Also babies should have watered down juice no more than once a day because otherwise it can cause diarrhea and it keeps baby from having more nutritious beverages such as breastmilk or formula which they still should be getting most of their nutrients from until a year old. My doctor actually didn't want me to give my baby juice at all because she thinks it's bad. I just gave it to her once a day mid morning with her snack. Personally I think moderation is okay.

i was reading through my plunket book from when i was a kid, and i was given a half and half drink of water and apple juice at 3 months, nothing wrong with me or my teeth!!

Personaly i think that there is too much sugar in apple juice (natural and added) and they do say that it will start to rot the teeth even if they havnt come through.

try water, my son doesnt like it too much but it has been way to hot and dont want him dehydrating

go with what you think is best :)

Giving sugary drinks, even watered down sugary drinks is harmful to the baby's teeth. I know that most babies don't have any visible teeth at 4 months but, the environment in which they are starting to grow can become unhealthy especially if the baby's mouth isn't getting cleaned at least once a day with a damp cloth or piece of gauze. Watered down juices are not even recommended at 6 months and are actually recommended at the age of at least one year...even then, juice should be limited.

I agree 100%!!!

Juice is totally unnecessary for wee ones, they get all their nutrional needs met through breast milk/ infant formula. It's really not good for their gums and teeth either.

My son is 5 months and he eats baby food already ( and he is very healthy) .. If you think your baby can handle it, and if its pure apple juice and if its watered down it wont hurt. Every mommy knows whats best for their little ones.

My pedi told me no juice yet an my LO is 10-months. Just as Sarah said the pedi also said there is too much sugar and no nutritional value in the juice and the baby will get full off of juice and not want breastmilk or formula as often.

My suggestion would be to wait, unless giving for a reason like constipation. Juice has a TON of sugar in it and not much nutritional value. Sometimes starting juice early makes for a picky eater later (not always, but can lead to a sweet tooth child). Milk is really what they need, so I would just do the cereal and formula/breastmilk.
