I started my 5mo son on solids about 4 weeks ago (he was exclusively breastfed prior) and he loves them. He eats like a piggy. I nurse him when he wakes up at 7am and about 1 hour later he will eat 2-3 Tbsp of cereal and 2 (icecube-sized) servings of fruit. Around lunch he takes 6+oz breastmilk from a bottle, then 2-3 servings of veggies and 1-2 fruits. He snacks on a 5-6oz breastmilk bottle mid afternoon. He eatsa 6-8oz bottle of breastmilk and then 2-3Tbsp cereal, 2 veggies and 1-2 fruits around dinnertime. Then he nurses again at bedtime which is 7pm. Amazingly, there are meals he wants more (even though between feedings he doesn't fuss that he is hungry)!
I know the cereal is important b/c of the iron in it, but I am a big fan of "eating your veggies and fruit", and I know how good the breastmilk is for him.
If he wants more, is there a better one to give him extra of? Being a first time mom, I don't want to overfeed him, but I also want to give him want he feels he wants/needs. He is big for his age - 90% for all measurements. Any thoughts would be appreciated
