Hey all my Son is 16 weeks and since about 6 weeks he has not gained much weight at all being born a big chunky 9 pounds he is only 13 pound now. He always had a raspy breathing and his chest was slightly sunken after going back and forth from doctors and hospital being told by one guy its urgent and the next no its nothing a paediatrician said he probably had a floppy larynx during the time we got in to see the paediatrician Ewan was doing well for about a week the pead said to put him on solids so he started gaining weight better which we did and he has taken to them well he still only drinks 100 ml in a sitting and he should be on closer to 240. We get him weighed on Friday but since Monday his breathing has come back worse and he now has coughing and can't even cry for his raspy voice.. does any one else have experience with floppy larynx.. what can help what can I do to help him?

I am worried sick watching him like a hawk ready to run to emergency.

my son is also 16 weeks. When he was about 2 weeks old he had very raspy breathing and I was concerned he had a chest cold or something. When I took him to the Ped. I was told he has a floppy larnyx and that it was nothing to worry about. When he went in for his 4 week and 6 week check up his weight gain was fine but the raspy breathing was still an issue. His Ped told me that 98% of children grow out of this by the time they are 2 years old. I was also advised that if he started losing weight or not gaining the recommended amount to feed him cereal with formula mixed and to make it a little thick. I had to do it for a few weeks as he was having a hard time eating his bottle and not choking on it. So far he is doing better and he is at a healthy weight. You may want to talk to your Ped. about what type of foods would be benificial for weight gain yet still be healthy for him. I wish I could be more help, but thankfully my little one was not as severe as your little guy. I wish you luck and all the best to you and your precious lil man.

I am happy to hear he is doing better. It always breaks my heart to hear that a little one has any type of problem. As of now my little one is having no problems what so ever eating anything we give him. I took him to his 9 month appointment and no issues were found. Thank you for the update on your lil guy. He is a doll btw. very cute!
