I always thought the book instead of a card idea was good, and the diaper raffle too. But some people put stuff on their registry they DON'T need, did you?
I put a bunch of clothes.....dumb! I didn't need those! I needed diapers and wipes and receiving blankets etc....

When I did my registry I went with my Aunt who had just had triplets a little over a year before so she was able to help me know what stuff she actually used and what was just a waste. I did end up putting stuff on there that I probably didn't need but I didn't get them anyway so it wasn't a big deal and my thought was if I did get it and changed my mind I could return it and get something that we actually needed. I didn't put diapers and wipes on my registry because at the time my thought was my husband and I can afford those and there was other stuff that we needed, we ended up getting a bunch of diapers and wipes anyway...as of right now my son is 5 and 1/2 weeks old and we haven't bought either of those and probably won't for a couple more weeks at least.
