My daughter is a little over a year old, I've had her on whole milk since she was probably 10 in a half 11 months, but I can't cut out the bottle. Her peditrician keeps telling me that I need to cut it ou especially with another baby due in October but I can't seem to cut it out. I could really use some suggestions on how to get her completely off the bottle. She will drink anything else from her juice cup but not milk. HELP!!

Try getting her to take milk from a sippy during the day but give her a bottle at bedtime to help her adjust

A lot of people think i'm crazy but my son is 4 months old and i went to Babies R Us the other day and i seen a training sip cup for 4 month old i bought it and tried it. Now he refuses to take his bottle. I guess i got lucky. People tell me to let him be a baby. I'm excited because it is hard to later take him off.

If she knows how to drink from the sippy cup I would just remove all bottles from house or sight. Start with offering only milk from the cup and offer it many times during the day. At first she will not want to drink from it because she knows that if she protests she will get it in the bottle. Once she realizes that she is not getting the bottle she will drink from the cup. I would start out by not offering anything else but milk from the cup at first. If you notice that she is getting dyhydrated (not having much wet diapers) you can give water. She will decrease her drinking some because she is not wanting to drink the milk from the cup and is waiting for you to give either the bottle or juice, but once she realizes that you are not giving in she will drink the milk. It might take a day, a week, or a few weeks but she will eventually drink milk from the cup.

Yea she will still take it at night, not drinking as much as she used to but she will still take it. I tried completely cutting it out completely but then she wouldn't drink milk at all and that worried me so I gave it back to her. I guess I'll try it again and just let her go wihout milk until she decides she's gonna take it outta her sippie cup.

Don't offer her anything else. You may have to completely remove all bottles from the house in order to accomplish this. The sooner this happens, the better. You don't want her taking the bottle away from her new sibling thinking that it is hers.

I'm actually going through the same thing with my son he is 11/2 yrs old i have been having a hard time as well but i just quit giving it to him because for when i give it to him he will just sit on the table an not drink it or he will bite holes in the nipples. he has been asking for it i tell him that i dont have anymore and so i put milk or water into a sippie cup and i tell him if wants a drink to go to the table and get a drink but other than that i dont let him have a bottle for bed or anything i make him go to sleep with out it . so does she normal take a bottle?
