Hi

I haven't had to travel with an infant yet, but had a friend that went over seas with her 4 month old boy. She went out and bought the 2oz premade formula bottles. She would have to feed him 2-3 each time, but that way she had  the requirements of under 3oz and she didn't have to warm or mix bottles on the plane. They were just ready.  She said they didn't make them in the excat formula she used but just bought the same brand, just regular stuff, which she had him try it before hand to make sure it didn't make him sick.

When I flew abroad I ended up calling CATSA in Ontario (Canadian) and Baby Formula and the childs water is exempt from the regulations. Storing the formula depends on what kind you use (ready made, concentrate, powdered?) if you are pre-making it like I was doing I found out that you can NOT use ice or gel packs to keep it cool in a little cooler bag BUT you CAN have frozen spinach blocks (these stay coldest longest just make sure you have it in a Ziploc Baggie so it doesn't leak as it melts), or frozen vegtables (don't stay frozen as long). I also brought some ready to use stuff with us just in case as you never know how long you are going to be on the tarmac and delays etc. I would also bring some powdered formula as you can get bottled water on the plane too at the beginning of the flight (to make sure they don't run out), as bottled water is the same as boiled water and can be used with powdered formula. This way you can make it on the "fly".

Don't forget your bottle brushes some soap and a couple bottles to rotate. For the trip I found the disposible liner ones the easiest as we usually use glass bottles that has a lot to clean. Keep in mind that you are not supposed to use the airplanes water in the bathroom to drink which means I wouldn't use it to wash the baby bottle nipples either. Use bottled water.

Hope this helps!

You should be ok with made up bottles - you might be asked to taste it though. If you are formula feeding you might be able to get some ready made cartons of formula at Boots when you have passed through security. You could also just take the powder and get some boiled water on the plane - they have hot water to make tea and coffee with - as long as it is 70C then that will kill off any nasties in the formula. There's always loads of coffee shops after security as well - they would be able to give you some hot water too! Hope that helps

yes i know they let bought water from the airport onto the plane but i would be needing it boiled.. shes only 15 weeks old ... and you cant make a bottle with cold water anyway as the bacteria in the formula doesnt get killed off and can cause very upset tummies... yuck.. but thank you for your advice anyway... im sure to have lots of fun in spain with my baby and older daughter... x x

i have traveled in the last couple of years back and forth to florida, every person with liquid larger than 3 oz. had to thro it away, but then again it didn't concern an infant. you best bet(and most accurate) is to call the airline and find out their allowances. hmmm let me think so its in powder for first , then youu mix it? why not buy bottled water in the airport? they let water bought in the airport onto the plane. maybe you could do that , hope that helps! wow have fun in spain!!!

i dont know what the procedure with formula at the airport is but for storage u can use tommee tippee bottles and storage tubs, put your boiled water in bottle as usual then formula in tub and tub in bottle then put lid on,  everything is already measured out and to hand all u have to do is mix together when needed for a fresh feed. good luck
