Does anyone know what could happen if you don't wait for doctor's approval/6 weeks after birth to have sex? A friend told me that it is dangerous, but if everything's healed whats the problem?

go for it, just use some protection because you can get pregnant (breastfeeding or not!). some women are lucky enough not to have periods, i was one of the unlucky ones and go mine a month after my C-section and they've been coming like clockwork ever since. if you're not hurting, have fun! you're one of the lucky ones, some have to wait months before they can enjoy it again :) good luck!

I stopped bleeding about 3 days after delivery and the pain was all gone by week 3. We tried slowly when the pain stopped but my stitches from where I tore were still super tender when touched so we stopped and waited another week. At week 4 we were successful and 100% pain free. I think it depends on you and your body. If you're paying attention, you'll know whether or not you're ready.

It's been a month since I gave birth vaginally & he almost literally ripped me a new one! I have so many stitches, I'm not sure if the bleeding is from my uterus or from the incision sites. & yes, I'm STILL bleeding. I went for my checkup @ 4 weeks & though everything was "healing nicely," I still have a hard time sitting in hard chairs & trying to do Kegels is still really difficult, as well. I think it'll be awhile before I let my hubby near that area! However, I'd follow the general guidelines just to be on the safe side: wait 6 weeks & until the bleeding has stopped to allow for proper healing & then carefully ease back into the swing of things. If you get your OB's permission first, even better. Enjoy!

I waited for 12weeks but the inlaws did not approve that and I am in trouble because my husband died 10 months after our stillbirth then according to the inlaws I caused the death by allowing sex before 4months.

I think they say once the bleeding has stopped, and you have no pain go for it.

6 Weeks is just a guideline really!! Youre lucky, i had to wait 13 weeks, i had bleeding solid due to retained placenta grgrgr!!!!!!

well i had a c section and my husband and i didn't wait until the 6 week approval we didnt even wait three full weeks but i think its all up to you, i know if it was vaginal then its harder to deal with but my husband was very gentle and it didnt hurt at all.

If you have a c-cestion wait, it could hurt the healing process. If you had a vaginal delivery it is just so your uturis contract. Basicly over all I would wait give your body a little time to heal, it actually takes a full year for your body to fully recover from pregnancy and delievery. So wait six weeks let your body heal then enjoy sex again with you partner!

I waited three weeks but that was because I was still bleeding. I would just make sure your stitches have healed completely before you do. He can check that for you. If no pain, GO FOR IT!!

If you had stitches then you might want to wait until your 6 week check up but if you didn't have any and you have stopped bleeding and sex is not painful then you should be fine :-)

I just went for a 3 week check up.. I had like 7 external stiches after birth.. and my dr. says I am in the clear to use tampons, go swimming, do whatever I want. I think it just depends on how many stiches you have and if you have them internally etc. and how quickly your body heals.

I read in the what to expect book that you can have sex after week four if your healed but to talk to your doctor to get the all clear

I think it really depends on if you have stitches. My doctor told me that I needed to wait until the stitches were totally healed and I had stopped bleeding to even use a tampon again. She was concerned about infection. I have a 12 week old baby and I still haven't been able to have sex because of complications with scar tissue and things like that. It really does just depend on your personal situation.

it is best to wait until the 6 w check up. You want to make sure your cervix is back to normal before oyu have sex. If you dont wait until your cervix is healed it can cause infections.

One of the biggest reasons we're waiting is b/c my birthcontrol won't be effective till it's been 7 weeks after giving birth.
