Help! 5 month old has cradle cap and the remedy made it worse!

my baby had it for months, I tried all the normal remedies. Finally I bought Aveeno Baby lotion...worked like a charm. I put it on his head each day and in a week I saw such an incredible difference I was surprised I never tried it earlier. Just rub it in after you bruch their hair and do the same each morning or night before bed..you will be amazed aat the difference in just a few days.

Thank you ladies so much.  I washed her hair every day so that makes me feel better that it could be because I am too worried about her being clean.  I will try these one at a time and let you know which one really works.  Thanks for being here and lending a ear to a new mom.

Max has it bad, too. I put baby oil on his head after every bath and then whenever I see it starting to show up again. I was brushing the little scales off, but that seemed to make it worse. I just slather the oil on now, I did read in a magazine that you can use dandruff shampoo. I haven't tried that and I would check with the pediatrician before I used it.

My 5 month old had a small patch of cradle cap (I could have died...thought I was a horrible mother) and the pedi told me to use warm mineral oil to loosen and brush out. I did and now it is ALL OVER HER HEAD! Does anyone have a suggestion to help her. She looks terrible. Poor little girl.

people tend to over do shampoo on babies so first of only wash her hair once a week tops the other days just use water.
To get rid of the cradle cap just olive oil her head then give her a bath after her bath use a coarse towel and rub, then put more olive oil on, you might have to do this once maybe be twice tops and theres nothing harmful in the products being used

My son only got it once and was mild then when I started doing this he never got it again.

my mother used olive oil massaged gently on the scalp. then using a soft brush, brush in opposite direction each time till it lifts and flakes off..

My pediatrician told me to just keep her head dry and comb it often. Cradle cap will eventually go away on its own. He said it’s most prevalent on baby’s soft spots because that is where parents are scared to touch. He also said not to but oil on it. I have read that over shampooing can make it worse. Cradle cap is very common. I think it’s just caused from dry scalp and you’re defiantly not a bad mom because of it.

yea you can use dandruff shampoo like selsum blue and then just brush it out...it deffnt works..you'll c it in couple of days...just make sure you dont get it on the eyes...

well i was told that if u put some baby oil on her head and then give her a bath and wash her hair it will go away it did for my son might work for u also

try using Gentle natural cradle cap care every time you bathe her. It Helps!
