Ok well I had this exact problem with my 16 yr old, 4 yr old and now Natalie who is 7 months. They would SCREAM nonstop in their carseat no matter how long or short a trip...I couldnt use it in the stroller because they would scream in it then too. Well at my my babys 4 month check I have a new Ped this time..she said it was most likely the infant bucket seat making her carsick..because the way they are positioned in it. She told be to go buy a convertable seat..one made for birth up. She was small only about 12 lbs at the time. I went and got a Britax Boulevard..but Im sure any convertable would be the same..I cant tell you...it was like the clouds parted and the sun came out. It was a miracle..she has never cried in the car since then. I cant believe I tried everything..toys ..sitting back there with her, a portable tv, even nursing leaning over her seat..yea crazy I know..but you know the feeling its awful..and I had already been through it twice and nothing ever worked for them..I am just upset that no one suggested a convertable seat with them..Its definitly worth a shot..I am telling you from one mom who has been there and definitly feels your pain.

I have tried everything! My son is 2 months old and screams! If we are on a long trip I have to sit in the back with him. We also have to pull over several times. I have tried feeding him before we leave, the toys, the mirror - nothing helps! I will try the Britax! I will try anything at this point!

My son also did this, one thing that helped that was a car seat attatchment toy. I got mine at walmart, it was pretty cheap, but it hooks on the handle and goes across it and it plays music and has other toys.

Mine too did the same thing, nothing helped and I was sure she was getting carsick. We got her the Britax boulevard and VOILA, it was like a new baby she never cried again!!!!!!

my second son hated being in the car. we got a mirror that attaches to the backseat. it had lights, music and a remote control. once he was old enough to see himself it was a peaceful ride for all.

My daughter did that in the beginning too and she still hates it. Does your son have a pacifier? Thats the only way my daughter will be ok in her carseat and she's 9 months old.

My son was the exact same way. At Target I found a swaddle for the car. He loves it and our car rides are more enjoyable. Good Luck!!!

My 3 1/2 month old also hates the carseat! I am open to suggenstions as well! I never wanted to start the habit so early of the DVD thing in the car but I guess that habit may be better than him thinking he doesn't have to sit in his carseat?!

My pied had me change my car seat. I had him in a infant travel system which made him tilt back too much for him. She suggested we get the expensive one that is comfortable and will grow with him. We got the Britax Boulevard. WE LOVE IT. He will never love goign in the car. But it stopped him from screaming at least. This happened to us at exactly the same time and within 2 days it got better. You can put them in their from birth.

My son is the same way. Nothing helped. He cried the whole time for first 6 months. He started getting better, but when he's tired, he reverts.

My son did the same until he was about 3 months old. We ended up buying a mirror that attaches to the seat so it faces him. The one we bought plays music and has nice bright pictures all over the frame and he can also see himself, so i think it made him feel like he wasnt alone. It is an aweful thing to deal with though. I know for me it definitely stopped me from going places because i knew the car ride would be stressful. Even now (he's 4 months old) we make sure when we are going anywhere we feed him first so he is content. It will get better. Maybe check the straps aren't too tight or pinching anywhere (just to be sure).

my duaghter is pretty fussy with her carseat too.
if she is the slightest bit wet or hungry she will scream no stop.
i just make sure i top her up just before we leave the house, shove a dummy in and off we go.

i have a capsula which i use though so i think it helped that she would be carried around in the car seat so it lost its "your gonna be strapped in and ignored" stigma.

my son hated his too. my mom got him a baby einstein music box and that worked great when a paci didn't (which was most of the time). he just stared in complete awe at the lights and music making toy. he's 6 months now and is bored with it now, but if I sing, that works, as long as I don't stop to breath! lol

i use a binky only for car rides, and as samantha mentioned i too have the walmart frog spinny toy for him lol. i also have a mirror placed so he can see himself and since i put these things there, he has calmed down a bit and keeps himself pretty occupied. i also play calming music. r&b or classical (blah) but it helps!

We played a lot of music in the car. Many times either my husband or I sat in the back with him just so that he could see us and so that we could just talk to him. Our son is better now. I think it wasn't until he was around 4 months old that he started riding better in the car.

My older daughter did the same thing, for a while we would grit it and bear it. But she never let up...so we eventually tried this toy that straps to the car seat that lights up and makes music. We also tuned the radio to a hip hop station, this helped a lot, the beat and vibrations lulled her to sleep, now she love hip hop lol. Sometimes when she was still small we would swaddle her a bit before strapping her in, this helped too. Good Luck!

we use a carebears music CD. the second its on he sniffles and he falls asleep. It's our lifesaver! But he's 4 months old now and still does that. They just don't like being restrained.

my son did this. he screamed the moment we buckled untill the moment we unbuckled him. we just put a million toys on his carseat and that kept him pretty occupied. walmart has this great carseat toy its got a little frog that when you push his eyes it plays music and lights up it also has little spinning rattles and stuff. he still cries some times when we buckle him but as soon as we put the toys up we have a nice quiet car ride
