hi i have an 8 month old son hes being bottle feed and has been showing interest in holding his bottle so im wanting to give him a sippy cup how do i go about it and do you have any suggestions on what cup ot use?

My daughter is 13 months and i have been trying to get her to use a sippy cup since 8 months. Today i actually got her drinking from a sippy cup and i am happy! I used a little bit of maple syrup ( sugar free) on the part she is supposed to suck from and it helped her to figure that out. She has been on a stage 4 nipple for her bottles it basically pours out without any sucking she had no idea how to get milk from her sipy cup

my son showed a huge interest in straws and hes ben drinking from straws since he was about 7 months old. so i eventually got him a soft spout sippy cup without handles.. (he was always carrying around his bottles.. so it was kinda the same) and i got him a gerber one with a straw. he ended up taking to that one much better! so he gets milk in his soft spout one twice a day and he gets half/half water and apple juice in the gerber one twice a day. he just turned one this week and were bottle free. goodluck!

My daughter has been exclusively on sippy cups since 6 months and she uses the Born Free cups. I like that you can put the handles on or take them off, my daughter doesn't use the handles they seem to confuse her and they have interchangable nipples depending on age.

My son is almost 8mths old...he has been using ONLY a sippy since about 6mths we gave him a spill-proof soft sippy with handles and he loved it sooo much that (after his doctors ok) we just started putting his formula into his sippy and now that is all he takes! he will drink water out of it or formula, then a dinner time we have a hard sippy that isnt spill-proof that we put half water/ half apple juice in and he LOVES it, even though that sippy makes a bit of a mess..We are really proud that we already have him off the bottle (even though some people give us dirty looks for it ??) but my son just took to the sippy really well...i think the handles help alot! GOOD LUCK!!

My daughter is 8 months and we use the soft spouts and some hard spouts. I personally have found the ones made by The Learning Curve to be best. They do not leak like the Nuby ones tend to and the spouts are the same shape from the soft to the hard when he is ready to transition. :)
