It's hard to tell. When I worked in daycare we went by smell. It smelled awful, like diarrhea does. You can't really go by it being loose because that's how baby poos are.

Depends on if your baby is breastfed or formula fed. If breastfed, it's highly unlikely it's diarrhea.
