How do you stay sane

Today my daughter is still sleeping and it's 8:45 am, 45 minutes into her first class. She is exhausted all the time. She has a hard time falling and staying asleep. Her vocal tic (short coughs) erupt every few seconds, and her ability to focus in class is minimal. I have discussed this issue with our child psychiatrist who agrees that most of this problem is caused by pre-pubescence. He expects things will get crazy before they eventually stabilise.
These lyrics keep me sane:
And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

Prayers can help most of the time. I am not a big religious person but I find myself saying Please God help me as much as I can. When the 2 boys are roughing it up and the house is turned upside down I keep saying to myself this is just a phase. I will not have House Beautiful for at least 12 more years. You really need to have a support team at your beacon call. My mom and mil are the greatest when it comes to this. A girls night out helps too. You do not have to have much money for these. Each of us takes a turn. We go to each others house and have a friday or saturday night and the kid's house who we go to are usually going over to grandma house that night. So us girls can have wine and conversation and the husbands watch the other kids who are at home. We really look forward to our girls night out. You have to be strong and know that the growing years with the kids will pass some day. Enjoy them while they are young my mom says to me all the time. You have to take the good with the bad. Good luck.

Take comfort in the fact that it just gets sooooo much easier as they get older and more mobile and start learning. Its so much fun to watch them. I can watch my son all day. He is nearly 10months old and i am enjoying now much than the new born to 5 months stages. It does get easier with time!!

I have 2 kids and know the feeling. I've that nice hot bath and some music are awesome. Sometimes it's a good idea to see if hubby will watch baby while you go out for a little bit. And I will say that yelling at hubby helps. LOL Sometimes you just need to yell and/or cry. There have been quite a few times that I've yelled at my hubby or just started balling, and he was there with my favorite ice cream and my favorite movie. He also takes care of the kids when he comes home from work if he knows that I've had a bad day. He makes dinner, gives them their baths, and puts them to bed. Putting hubby to work is always good. LOL

I am a first time mom and have had some questions of how to stay sane myself! I really find that being able to have even just an hour to yourself to soak in the tub, go for a walk, or whatever you enjoy doing at least once a day helps a LOT! If you're feeling particularly insane, pick up the phone and call a friend or your own mom or someone else that knows how to make you laugh. If all else fails and you're feeling frustrated, put your baby down in the crib or on the floor or somewhere safe and go ahead and have a good cry or a good scream! Hope this helps!
Through which part? Patience is everything. Don't be afraid to cry when they escape you. Releasing that frustration is good for both of you. Take comfort in knowing by the time you recognize that your baby is going through a phase they're already half way through it. Make time for your self and, if you're not going it alone, with your partner as well. When ever the baby is sleeping, sleep and rest and research different parenting options. There are a lot of good books out there. Just a couple are "Baby Wise" and La Leche Leagues " The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding." They have some conflicting info but different options are good. It takes some trial and error to get you're mama rhythm down. Stick to eating clean simple foods. Nothing that will irritate you or your baby's stomach and drink LOTS of water. I wish you all the best and some rest mama.
