I got my periods after 12 weeks of my delivery and I was BF exclusively till than. I had a C-section too but i just bleeded for 8-10 days after the delivery. My sisters had c-section and they exclusively BF too and they had their periods on 40th day of their delivery so I guess each and every body is different :)

I delivered vaginally with my last daughter and breastfed her for 18 months. I didn't get my period back until after I weaned her from breastfeeding. I had heard that could happen,but I never experienced that with my other babies. It's supposed to be nature's family planning. I have friends who actually planned the spacing of their children using breastfeeding as the family planning method.

I didn't get mine until about 4-5 months after and I ended up going to the doctor's as I was worried too! I only breastfed for 5 days but I have heard it can be months if you breastfeed. They are doing tests on me to check out my thyroid, you may be perfectly fine but if you're worried go to your doctors and they'll probably do a couple of blood tests just to check everythings ok. i bf for 4wks (couldnt produce enough) and i got my period a week after i stopped bfing my son. and he was a c-section as well so its probably just because you are bfing

Don't worry. It's definitely down to the breast feeding - especially if you've lost a lot of weight due to it, too. I was very under weight from the breast feeding and didn't get my period until one month after I stopped. So, all said and done, I went 15 months after giving birth before having a period.

My 3 breastfed bubs it was 10months, 11 months (she was a c-section) and 10months after their births. Number 4 bub was breast on and off for 10 weeks then all bottle, period began 5 weeks after I stooped breast altogether.

I breastfed my son for 16 months and did not get a period until he was 15 months. Most breastfeeding mothers don't get a period until they stop breastfeeding, or their babies are close to weened. Your mom is very right. And you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Just enjoy not having one :)

As far as i know anyone who breastfeeds doesn't get a period. I breastfed for 4 months and got mine about 6-8 weeks after i stopped. Of course there are people that do get them while they are feeding but it is normal to not get them. Has something to do with hormones levels i think.

I believe it is true, I had my son naturally, had my period 6 weeks after Bubs, and then didn't get another one until a week after my son turned 1, so that was long i thought....

i dont think the difference in giving birth and a c-section is any different, the difference is between nursing and not nursing, it took about 3months after giving birth to my daughter to get mine, but my cousin hasnt gotten hers since her second child and she nursed(breast fed) him for about 3years but i think it depends on the person and how stressed they are about not having it, or worry. I say you should enjoy it lol =) i did until i got mine lol but once my daughter became 6months old i got the IUD and since than i've been mainly spotting, but that is different for others as well, i hope you get the answers you are looking for =)

after 3 months i got my period back. Some says that it is normal not to have your period while you are brestfeeding. But to be sure visit your doctor. He/She may help you

hey there hun im in the excact same situation it is perfectly normal as long as your breast feeding my mom had five children and said as soon as she stopped breast feeding the next week she got her period dont worry its normal

Well...my little man is 17 months old and I still don't have my period either, but I breastfeed on demand, all day and night! :-)
I also bled for 2 months, after my vaginal delivery...bleeding and birth has nothing to do with it.

My daughter is 13 months and i only just got my period.. i wouldnt worry, who wants to have periods anyway, i loved it when my friends complained about period pains coz i made me think, thank god i dont have that to worry about now!

I just got mine while still breastfeeding after 18 months. I enjoyed every month without them!! I do night feeds & a special restrictive diet as my daughter is very allergic. I am slimmer now after my second child than before conceiving my first - can fit into my wedding dress again & I am 42!

No its not too long : ) don't worry, but you CAN still fall pregnant during that time.

When you stop breastfeeding and your hormones sort themselves out, it will arrive (unless you're pregant!) :D

this has been SUCH a help. i cannot thank you ladies enough! i'm quite at peace now. once i wean my baby, and my period still doesn't come back for a couple of months, then i guess it will be time to do something about it. don't worry, i still have to go to my doc for some other stuff so i'll bring this up anyway, but it's not worrying me any more. thanks, u guys are the best!!! :)

I am BF and it took me 5 mos to get my period back. as for the weight i have only lost 10 lbs of the 40 i want to loose. the more i keep the junk food out of the house is when i loose. i am also a stay at home mom so i take the baby walking about every other day. he really enjoys being out side and i love getting fresh air and seeing the trees turn! it is also nice and refreshing to have a change of scenery!

Look dont worry go to the doctors and get tested
I had 4 daughters it was about 2 months befor my periods came But when i had my last baby at 38
It never came back Yes i was so pleased as i did not want any more it was a boy after 4 daughters who was like mum to him and they was a great help
But have a check up with the doctors as it will sel\ttle your mind and maybe stop you worring

It really depends on your body chemistry, if you breastfed or not, and how active you are! ME, I probably had my period about 3 months after... I did not breastfeed, BUT, I produce milk like crazy, (and I still have some 18 months later, ewww)... But dont worry about it, it will come...

With my second baby, I didn't get my perid for 13 months. I freaked out each month after month 4 and took a home pregnancy test every month. So it's not unusual. However, if you have any concerns, you should talk to your gyn.

You can not have a period till you stop breast feeding it's normal. C Section makes no difference, its the fact you are breastfeeding. Some people also don't get a period for a while after even when they aren't bf. I bled for nearly 10 weeks after then I had a period then another and so i went on the pill... i'm now off the pill as i feel it was way too early and i'm now waiting for a period and i'm still BF so who knows whether i'll get one or not?.... but please don't worry.. if after 2 months after your milk has dried up you haven't had one then see your doc.

I think it is different for individuals. I do know of people who their period did not come until one year.
For me, if I am on exclusive BF, then my period does not come but immediately I introduce solids, my period starts.
You can also discuss this with your gynaecologist and hear what he says.

I never got mine but I would have got it 6 months after the birth of my son except I was pregnant again. I actually didn't get my period for over two years with two mc then the birth of my two sons and it returned 5 months after having my second son.. I was Bfing both the first I bf up until 9 months and the second only 4 as he had problems feeding.

i ad both my kids by c-section my daughter was an emergency c-section n wen i ad her i bleed 4 5 days n my period went bk 2 normal and shes 3 now but with my son who is now 20months old my period still havent gone rite since i had him i bleed for wks after i had him and now my periods are all over the place i come on twice a month which does my head in as before i knew when i was going to come on but now i havent got a clue and i would really like to try for another baby but with my periods the way they are i aint having much luck with it

I think you should make sure you are not pregnant again. If you are much overweight, your body stops having periods. (some people)

Italia, some women do get their periods while breastfeeding, it just depends on the woman. Every body is different. Don't worry, having a period (a light one) is normal too! It could go either way.

hi ladies... so i bleed till about six weeks during postpartum my baby is about 10weeks old and around week 8th week i got a period lasted 4days no cramps nothing just like how it was before getting preggars. the thing is i'm breastfeeding and I thought that I wouldn't get a period since i was... what's wrong with me?

Some mothers don't get their period the ENTIRE time they are breastfeeding, and even afterward for a few months. Don't be too concerned until 3 months after you stop breastfeeding. Then you can consult a physician.

My youngest will be 8 months old on sunday, and I still haven't had mine. Don't worry about it, or talk to a doctor if you are concerned. My advice: enjoy it while you can! And remember: not having your period does NOT mean you aren't fertile! I have three kids, ages 3 1/2yrs, 2yrs, and 8 months. I concieved when each of the older two were 9 months old, having not had a period between pregnancies. I haven't had a period in 4 years at this point. So, unless you want another one right now, use some sort of protection!

my son is 3months old n he is bottle feeding.. i tried to breast feed but he didn't latch on n not a lot of breast milk coming out... i got my period when he was 2 months old n it lasted for almost 3 weeks plus am taking the shot.. no by choice( hubby wanted me to be on birth control). mind u i also push just to find out that my son was head down face down so i needed c-section.

I'm still BF my 10 month old and still no period! Hopefully it will hold off for a while longer LOL. I have a friend who has a 1 year old and she still hasn't gotten her period yet (she BF also). We both have mirena so that may make a difference.

Don't worry, I didn't get my until my son was 7 months old. My sister -in-law didn't get hers until her daughter was 22 months. Every body is different. It will come and then you will have those times when you think, " I wanted you back, why?!"
