how long can u save breast milk?

i just pumped, my 4 week old only took a little. can i save the rest? or do i have to throw it out?

To add onto the other post you can save freshly pumped breastmilk in the fridge for 8days as long as it hasn't set out. Once you remove it from the freezer and warm it up it's only good for about 4hours and if you take if from the freezer and let it unthaw in the fridge it is good for the 8days....breastmilk bags are great storage because you can use a sharpie marker to date and label them! Good Luck with pumping....and just an fyi if you give your baby breastmilk and they only drink a little after four hours I would throw it out. Not sure about re-refridgerating or re-freezing....

If the milk you are wanting to save is from the same bottle he drank from you can keep it at room temp for 4 before it will go bad. If in a separate container it is good on the fridge for 24hrs, freezer for 3 months and a deep freezer for 6 months. Hope this was helpful! Oh and when warming up breast milk never do it in a microwave just warm water!
