My daughter is 21 weeks and she only sleeps for 30 to 35, maybe 40 minutes when she goes down for a nap. She does these little cat naps all day and never sleeps for a good hour / 2 hour nap....is this normal? Should she be napping longer?

My daughter is 8 months now and doesn't even believe in sleep! She'll have a few nights where she wakes up every few hours then she'll crash for a marathon sleep session.

Every baby is different. I never had problems with my 7 year old sleeping because after 4 months she'd sleep like a rock.

Sharon i tried doing the dreamfeed but she would jus wake up at the same times everynight anyway so the dreamfeed was just extra calories her chubby self surely does not need! LOL

My youngest is 6mths, he's been in a similar sleep routine to this for about the past 5-6wks.

5-6am wake up

7-730am: nap 40-60mins

approx 10am: nap 1.5-2hrs

1:30/2:30pm: nap 40-60mins

approx 4pm: nap 20-30mins (on a good day!) if not then he's has serious grizzles.

530-6pm: asleep for the night (dreamfeed 10pm).

1-3 times a week he's wake around 4-5am for an early bottle, but then he's back asleep, usually until about 7ish on those mornings.

EDIT: Our eldest, just turned 2, didn't sleep well during the day at this age. Somedays he would only sleep 20mins or so at a time, and most days were 40min sleeps x 3.

As she gets bigger, and she starts eating solid food, I will bet she starts sleeping longer. Solids are harder to digets, keep them full longer...and makes them sleepy. This is usually the hardest part, getting through the first year as far as sleep deprivation goes.

no shes not hungry after her naps and she'll sleep for a good 5 hour stretch at night sumtimes....like, i put her asleep in her crib around 7 / 7:30ish after shes had some cereal and a 4oz bottle and then shes up again @ 11 for 4oz....then she'll go back down til around 2/3 then shes up for another 4oz then she'll go back down then shes up @ 6 / 6:30 for the day......but during the day she can only be up for an hour and a half at the most before shes cranky and ready for another nap ( 30 / 40 min tops )

That is kind of odd for that age. As infants, I can see that....but that is really odd. Does she sleep through the night, or at least long stretches? Is she waking wicked hungry after her naps?
