How long was you in labour with your children? With my first son I was in labour for 2 and a half hours and i was quite lucky I had no pain. With my second son I had to be induced and l was in labour for 2 hours and 45 minutes with pain in my back.

my daughter was a week early (due 24h dec born 17th dec) I went into (which I now realise) early labour on sunday by tuesday it dawned on me what was happening and i had my show and the contractions got stronger, and she was born on the wednesday morning at 9.40am, although i was therefore prob in labour about 72 hours ish, i was only in active labour for 7.

she was born only with the aid of gas and air and a tens machine, which i feel really lucky about, and on the whole feel i had a very postive labour.

I had my son the morning i was booked into get induced. I was 9 days overdue, little man was being lazy. I was in labour for 4hrs and 10 min, pushing was about 50 mins. Man was i tired. I only had pethedine during the labour then had to have the gas when i was getting the awful stitches.... Man does the gas make you feel so strange. He came out all red and creaked skin poor little man he was over cooked. That last cervix stretching really did the trick.. got home and was having contractions, crying on the lounge for like 2 and half hrs before i went to the hospital. A hot bath and shower helps when you have contractions :)

I was induced at 5 days over due for high blood pressure. and was very lucky, I laboured for 1 1/2 hours and pushed for 15 min. I had bad back pain and it was just strait into full 0n pain but there was no time for any drugs. It was an amasing expereance but am not to sure how next one will happen.

I have a 7 month old and i was in labour for 3 and a half hours. She was 9 days overdue. I had pain but it was managable with gas & air although her heartbeat kept falling whilst i was pushing so the dr pulled her out with a ventous in the end. I was very lucky as I had a fantastic pregnancy with no problems and a quick labour too!

With my first son my water broke and 12 1/2 hours later he was born.  With my second son, I was induced and after 18 hours of labor they found out he was breech and we ended up with a c-section.  With my daughter and other son we ended up having to do a c-section each time due to complications from my previous medical history.

[deleted account]

With my first I was just over three hours - the next three were all around 2- 2.5 hours. I didn't need to be induced they all came naturally but I knew once I felt the first twinges I needed to get child care sorted and get into hospital quickly. First time round however I expected to be in it for the long haul and the hospital kept telling me I didn't need to come in. They laughed when I'd told them I'd been in labour for 1.5 hours and wanted to come into hospital. In the end I got there 5 mins before he was born so no time for pain relief etc ... and my waters didn't break so he was born with the membrane still intact. It's supposed to be lucky.

The first was 3 days late and my second was 6 days late but my third caught me out and came two days early. I hadn't even put the cot up or got anything ready! I'd only finished work the day before as I'd convinced myself he'd be two weeks late!! My fourth was born the day before her due date.

Quick labours are fine but it's best not to let on first time you go to a mother and baby group. I was nearly thrown out when they realised my four labours were shorter than one of theirs.

my first labor was horrible with my first child. i had preterm labor with him at 32 weeks but had him at 38 weeks. my labor started on a friday in my back, i was sent home becuz it was a slow labor i had continous labor pains every 15 minutes with no rest. i had him finally that monday with 3 1/2 hours of pushing and help with a vaccum. he almost came c-section. but my son weighing 9.3 and myself only weighing 110. i cant have kids natural anymore. my other 2 children were born c-section due to my first labor and other complications.

My water broke at around 3 am and got to the hospital at 03h50 and I was already 91/2 cm dilated ... contractions were sore but not unbearable and she was born just after 05h00 ... pushing was for about 10 mins or so ... so no time for epidural or anything and she was born at 38 weeks ... very lucky and hope my next one's are the same

I was induced with both my daughters..

With my first one: I was induced two weeks early. I was induced in the afternoon and I didn't have her until the next at 2:35 p.m. but the active labour was 1 hour 15 minutes with no pain.

With my second one: I was induced one week early. I was induced in the afternoon again but I had her at 3:57 a.m. and the active labour was about 5 hours, with NO pain and I mean NO pain... They gave me way too much epidural...

I had to be induced 6 weeks early due to complications with my first son and was in labor for 18 hours. My second son, born 12 weeks early, due to major complactions they had to perform an emergency c-section.

With my son I was in labor for 4 and a half hours and had back labor and my doctor gave me nubane 45 min before my son was born.

With my daughter I was induced a day early because I was a basket case because she didn't move too much near the end. I was in labor for 1 hour and 55 min I had back labor with her too, but then I was pushing 5 seconds after they gave me the nubane and she was out before that had a chance to kick in.

I was 10 days early. I contracted for 24 hours but once I was dilated to 10 cm it only took 90 minutes. I had horrendous "back labor" even through an epidural.

Yes I do have quick labours. When the day came for them to induce me (it was suspose to be on the 17th Dec) they were scared to start me of becos of my quick labour with my first one. They decided to do it the next day when they had a midwife free. I had no pain with my first son (labour 2 and a half hours) but with my second son (2 hours and 45 mins labour) l had back pain. I didn't have any pain killers.

Daughter - I was four days past my due date they induced me...no drugs...start to finish about 6 hours or so, pushed a hour and thirty-three minutes.

Son - Induced on my due date...no drugs...start to finish about 4 hours, pushed 7 minutes.

Even though it was painful, I am looking forward to having more children in the future!!

Wow lisa, you have very short labours, nice! I was in pre term labour just before 35 weeks and put on bed rest. He hung on until I was exactly 39 weeks. I was about 2 cm dialated for that whole month and had early labour pains. So when real labour started and we got to the hospital I was 4 cm and this was about 4am. I had him at 11:56am. It was a very good labour experience for me as I found it very tolerable. I wasn't in huge pain until I was 9cm and the nurse broke the rest of my water, then it came on strong. However due to his low heart rate and the cord being around his neck the doctor used a vacuum to get him out fast so I only had to push for 20 mins. I think being in pre term labour for a month really warmed my body up, I didn't need any drugs. However if I would have had to push longer I would have wanted to die LOL it was the worst craziest pain I have ever experienced but I would do it again!

With my daughter she was three days late, my water broke but they had to induce me because I didn't have contractions. Because they induced me the pain was greater and I was in labour for 13 hours. I didn't want the epidurale but asked it when I was 5 cm and got it an hour later when I was at 8 cm.  With my son, he was 1 and a half week late. My water broke and had contractions every 5 minutes and I was in labour for 6 hours.
