My labor was 23 hours from my first contractions to delivery! The entire time my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart! It was horrible! :(

I was induced at 630pm on a sunday and they broke my water at 930am the next morning. From then on my contractions were 1 and a half mins apart and i didnt want a c-section or pain meds. so i went on for 12 hours with those contractions and after the 12 hours and no in provment i had to have a c-section. It broke my heart i wanted to have a natural birth. but after 30 mins in the O.R my son was born weighing 10lbs 4oz and 22in long..But looking back if i would have known how big he was going to be i would have went with the c-section to start with..

i dont remember how far apart the contractions were but from the time i felt my first cramps/contractions and the time she was born was a little over 3 hours. my midwife is expecting my next baby (due in a few weeks) to be either faster or just as fast so when i feel the pains i have to get to the hospital asap.

mine started at 7mins apart but lasted all night, then when they got painful and were 2/3 mins apart i went to hospital and harriet arrived 11 hours later, asleep and stress free! epiduals are amazing!!!!! i had a lovely labour, even managed to french plait my hair!!:)

[deleted account]

I feel so lucky mine was 45 mins from when my waters broke to when I had my son, before they broke my waters (induced at 37 wks due to pre-eclampsia) the contractions were very mild and were about 20 mins apart (I was only 2cm when they broke my waters so dilated rather fast).

[deleted account]

mine was 38 1/2 hours, my contractions were wavering but i don't think they were ever anymore than 10 minutes apart, however i was suffering intense back pain 3 days before contractions started

Well, my contractions started at just around 12:30am and I was 3 cm when I got to the hospital at about 2:00am and she was born at 10:49am!!!

My 2nd I was induced and they gave me the little pill about 10:45am and she was born at 3:28pm

Each one is different!!!! And they say they come faster after the first!!!

I'm not really sure when my contractions started, because I was having back labor, but my water broke at 2:40 AM. I had my son at 3:35 PM that day (with a pushing time of 38 minutes.), so I my total labor lasted 12 hours 55 minutes. I did have back pain around 5:30 AM, but I didn't realize at the time that they were contractions. I am really glad my water broke, or I think I would have ended up having my son at home, because I wouldn't have realized that my back hurting equaled contractions. The pain only got real bad/real close together at noon.

30 hours of labour. 4 hours of pushing.

Contractions started 3 hours after my water broke, and they were 2 mins apart the whole time and got worse and worse until I had an epidural.

07:45 Nurse gives me an induction and tells me i am going to end up having a c-section as my cervix is stone hard.
08:00 starting to have pains - everyone thinks i'm over reacting
10:00 In the pain bath begging for an epidural. Yes i can get one in an hours time (hahaha)
10:45 Doc walks in, sees baby's head. I finally get an injection for the pain. TOO LATE
10:50 Baby boy born. But when i read you've had a 55 hour labour i am so thankful even if i did do it without any pain meds.

I started having irragular contractions at 2am the day before, dont remember when they got to 10 min apart, but went to the hospital at 8:30pm at 7min apart, had an emergancy c-section at 10:45am the next day. Long and hard experience.

I had my waters broken at 11 days overdue. I don't remember the contractions ever being 10mins apart. My whole labour was an hour and a half long, I pushed for half an hour.

I had braxton hicks for 2 weeks before my son was born then it completly dissapeared, the pain from that was worse then my actual labour so when i was at a friends one day i didnt think anything of it when i started getting little niggly cramps, untill i went to the toilet and was bleeding, i went from nothing to 3minute contractions told my mum and she thought id be waiting for a while so decided to make a soup and do the dishers before finally going to the hospital.. i got there and was already 9 1/2cm dialated, had no time for any pain relief and literally had to start pushing as soon as i walked through the door, all up my labour was about 3hrs, would have been much faster if my son hadnt twisted the wrong way and got wedged, and have to be forced out with vontuse and forceps.

[deleted account]

i can't remember when they were 10 minutes apart (that's how they trick you into having a second. LOL). I had manageable contractions for 24 hours and then full on contractions for 6 hours. 45min worth of pushing. From what I hear, mine wasn't too bad. :)

42 hours from when contractions were 5 mins apart. I was stuck at 4cm and refused a c section, which is what the dr wanted, as I wasn't progressing. I just screamed my head off for almost 2 days straight.

I've had 3 children & they were all fairly short labours, getting faster each child. I was in labour (water breaking to baby being born) with my oldest child for 6hrs 24mins, my middle child 6hrs 10mins & my youngest child 4hrs 50mins. Water broke before contractions started with all 3...then contractions started 15 mins later.

Contractions started off right away 3-5 minutes apart with all 3 labours. Never had any 10 minutes apart contractions...

I don't know. I started timing my contractions from when they were regular; not ten minutes apart. From the time my contractions were regular my labors were 19 hours, 15 hours, 11 hours, and 33 hours long. My last labor was the longest. I was never induced.

I started having contrations on Tuesday evening around 7 pm. They were approximately 10 to 15 minutes apart but they were really strong and I felt them in my back. I went to the hospital and was only dialated to 1 cm. So they sent me home told me to try and rest and let my cervex dialate.
Went back to the hopital on Wednesday at around 6 or 7 pm cause my contractions were getting stronger and consistantly about 8 to 10 minutes apart. They admitted me.
I labored for 30 hours. Had the epidural.
I labored more relaxed for 6 1/2 more hours.
Pushed for 1 1/2 hours.
Had her at 5:13 PM
So about 38 hours total.

I spent 38 hours total in labor.

I didn't read all of the posts, but I'm pretty sure I have you ALL beat. Try 5 1/2 DAYS!!!!! Yes, that is right. 5 1/2 DAYS, 132 HOURS of contractions of varying intensity 5-10 minutes apart. She was facing the wrong way so it was mostly in my back. Friday I could walk & talk through them but could not sleep through them. By Saturday evening, I could not walk or talk through them; again no sleep. Sunday, no walking or talking through them and they were 5-8 minutes. Monday morning at midnight they broke the 5 minute mark and very quickly were at 2-3 minutes. We went to the hospital and after 6 hours there, I was discharged; I was only dilated 2-3 cm!!! A hot shower, some Tylenol, and Benedryl let me sleep for a few hours then the contractions were back on. My body was so tired; it was torture. I would break down crying every couple hours because I just couldn't take it anymore, but I wan't far enough along to admit to the hospital. Tues, same thing. Wed I had my 1 week doctor's appt. We told her what had been going on and she asked why we hadn't gone to the hospital (GRRR! We did!). Good news, though. I had finally dilated to 4 cm so I could be admitted. I had really wanted all natural birth, but by then my body was so tired it would have been both difficult and dangerous, so at 11:45 I had an epidural. Hallelujah!!! Ended up with a C-Sec that night because the Pitocin wasn't helping me at all. My body was too worn out, and she was still facing the wrong way. I pray no one else has to go through what I did. What do you think? Do I win?

I began having regular contractions about 15-20 mins apart on Thursday at 10 AM and they were 10 mins apart by 3 PM that day. They were 5 mins apart by midnight. So very slow. I went to the hospital and my labor became dysfunctional, with dilation slowing basically to a stop over the next 18 hours, although I continued having contractions but they were all in my back (back labor). My son was in a posterior (his spine toward my spine) position, which slowed my labor. At about 1 AM on Saturday I was given Pitocin and I dilated to 10 cm within about 4 hours; I then pushed off and on for approx. 3 hours to get my son to turn into the anterior position, and pushed for less than an hour before delivering him at 9:31 AM on Saturday, Feb. 14.

So about 36 hours from when they hit 10 mins apart, but a lot of that was "dysfunctional" labor where I wasn't contracting regularly or they weren't getting stronger/closer together, or they were all in my back. I had less than 8 hours of "active labor" (past 5 cms) with Pitocin augmentation. And no epidural. (One Nubain shot which did NOTHING and I refused any further anesthesia.)

My water broke at 8:30 p.m. was in hard back labour by 10 pm. contractions were sporadic but at least felt like they were close together. I delivered at 6:25 a.m. Most painful yet most perfect all-nighter I've ever had.

Almost ten hours.

i started with irregular contractions, irregular in terms of time between and the level of discomfort- this went for about an hour, when we decided to leave for the hospital. my contractions were only about 1-2 mins apart on the 20 min drive to the hospital. by the time i arrived i was already fully dilated! no time for an epidural or to wait for my ob to finish up her emergency c-section, so a random OB delivered me after a very quick 2 hours of labor. hopefully i'll be more prepared for my second!

my contractions started out at about 5 minutes apart at about 3:30 in the morning. the doctor broke my water at about 7:30 and my beautiful daughter was born at 8:30am. i feel very lucky to have had such a short labour compared to some, but my contractions were the worst pain i have ever felt in my entire life.

From labor to delivery it was 5 hrs. I'm so glad it wasn't longer, because I didn't have any drugs and stayed in the house until the last posibble min. By the time I got to the hospital I was already 10 centimeters dialated. I arrived at 6am and she was born at 6:05am.

my first one i was having back labor, they started about 6:30 a.m...I went to work around 9a.m and walked the halls, my contractions were every 5 minutes and a min apart. I finally got checked out by the dr at 3.pm. was dilated to a 3 and got sent right over to the hospital was bed bound and had the longest night of my life. She was born at 12:15 the next day. NO DRUGS, I tore...so all in total was 18 hrs. My last four were all induced and they were 12 hrs, 7 hrs, 5 1/2 hrs and 6 1/2 hrs because he ended up getting stuck do to a short cord.
