I gained 18lbs
after I left the hospital I was able to fit into my old jeans within a week. BUT staying home with a newborn and not eating properly I ended up gaining another 20 lbs the first 8 months. NOW i regret not eating properly, because I can't seem to get the weight off.

I weighed around 180-190 before pregnancy, and right before I had my son I was 295!! I just couldn't believe a 4lb 6oz little guy could make me gain so much! I dropped to 265 right after but gained 15 right back and have stayed there :(

With my daughter (14 months now), I gained about 24 pounds. I started off at 175 or so, and didn't seem to have much of a problem taking the weight off eventually (a few months), but it probably helped that I breastfed. At one point, I was down to 165. With this pregnancy (I'm about 23 weeks along), I've gained about 8 pounds, so it seems like I'm on the same track as I was with the first baby. Everyone is different though, and all bodies are different! Pregnancy is a major change for the body, and things just don't go back where they were right away! :)

I was 118 when i found out i was pregnant (3 months into it) At the end of my pregnancy i was 170. I am now 135 and it does not matter what i weigh anymore. I am fine with it.
Dieting alone will not help. You need to exercise as well. I have been 135 since 6 weeks after my pregnancy ( i dropped 35 pounds right after birth basically)

i was 150 before pregnancy. gained 15 pounds by 5 months. had to go on bed rest at 5 months. gained 25 pounds (in that week) and got gestational diabetes a week after bed rest. went on diabetic diet, lost 20 pounds. at 8 months, my belly was so big it was causing my hips to dislocate when i walked, and ended up gaining 55 pounds total when i was pregnant with my son. the moment he came out of me, i lost 45 of it. now i gained everything back :( and havent been able to lose it. i found out i was insulin resistant, and with the insulin resistant diet, i've lost 5 pounds. so here's hoping i can lose the rest.

I only gained 17 pounds. Unfortunately I was overweight to begin with at 185 due to a bad car accident and an underactive thyroid. My son was born in Sept. I went to the gym three times a week up until June and then did water aerobics three times a week after that up until Sept. It was the best thing I could've done to keep active with low impact.

well, i was about 122 Ibs before the pregnancy... i ended up with 154 and now, 3months later, i have about 126... i've lost 16 Ibs in 3 weeks after giving birth... i am breast feeding so i'm not dieting but i do control the calories I ingest and i'm trying not to go over aproximately 1700-1800/day,wich is the minimum allowed when breast feeding. Of course i have days when the "need" of chocolate or sweets rounds the number untill about 2200 and days full of fruits and vegetables when i barely touch the 1500... so don't stress to much, just count (it's also a good brain exercise ) and try to stay in a range, after you decide exactly what that will be

i hit 202 but lost 4 pounds by my last appointment. so in total i've only gained 16 pounds. docs not worried. babe is healthy and as i was a touch overweight to begin with it's fine. means i'll lose most if not all of it as baby weight.
oh, baby is due on the 24th of this month. no one thinks i'll make it that far (head is already on the cervix)

Shelby I was about the same as you! I'm not sure exactly what I weighed, but I had put on some weight before I got pregnant and was in the process of trying to take it off when I discovered I was pregnant. So I was probably around 135, up to 184 day of delivery, and at my 8 week checkup I think I was 165. I've been working out, dieting, (not breastfeeding) and I've come down only to 148 lbs! I even did the South Beach and lost maybe 8 lbs the first 2 weeks. Tried to stay on the phase one and nothing was coming off anymore! So now I'm back to trying to eat healthy. I want to be 125 (I was 114 in high school, yeah that was 10 years ago but still!) or 120. Sucks because I'm losing weight on top by my boobs, but my hips are HUGE. So even the fat clothes I have don't fit. My baby will be 6 months next week. I'm so frustrated, I know your body changes, but I want to be skinny again! I know how you feel!
Oh and I was 184 the day I delivered, but the day I went homem I was 182 and my feet and ankles were ENORMOUS I really thought I had a serious problem, but I had to be on pitocin, plus the antibiotics for Group B, plus the epidural, normal IV bag, yeah I guess I was pumped full of fluids lol.
I know how you feel. My fiancee' (who has lost most of his sympathy weight btw) keeps saying how good I look, I'm like, "do you even remember what I used to look like??" it's depressing. I feel like there is nothing I can do. Plus I have been sick this week so I haven't been to the gym and not as strict on my diet. So I haven't gotten on the scale either.
Mega-rant! lol.

I hear everyones frustration. I ate like garbage with my first child and gained about 50 lbs. UGH!!! Then with my second child I ate very well, watched what I put in my mouth and was able to lose really fast after giving birth to her (she 10.5 lbs when she was born) now for my thrid one, I swear he broke me. My tummy is all jiggly and I can't seem to find any energy, although I have begun walking 5 miles a day, I should add strength training but a little at a time. My son is now almost 2 years old. I hate the fact that I have to work a full-time job and don't seem to have any time for me, but I know with dedication we all can get back to our before body images. Good luck everyone!!!

With my first pregnancy, I gained 55 pounds. I gained 48 pounds with my second, 47 pounds with my third, and 45 pounds with my fourth. I lost it all except for the first time when I lost 5 pounds more than I gained. So after having four kids, I weighed less than before I ever got pregnant.

I gained 10kg (22lb) during my pregnancy which I was happy about but I swear I've put on weight AFTER giving birth, sitting around breastfeeding all day and then sitting around whilst my baby takes naps and stuff. I have a really calm placid baby so I'm not chasing her around just yet. I've started going for more walks now (my dogs are happy about that too!) so I hope that helps. I've heard mothers say before that breastfeeding just melted away the fat but that's not what it was like for me and I did exclusively breastfeed my baby for the firs 4-5 months.

I was 120 pounds when I first got pregnant and around 160 when I gave birth. I was back down to around 130 when I left the hospital 3 days later and have been back at 125 since about a week after my daughter was born. My stomach is still really loose though but it's slowly getting back to normal. I think most of the weight I gained was fluids so it all just left right after she was born. I got really lucky on that and I think it made up for a horrible labour.

Before I got pregnant they estimated my weight at 126, I hadn't weighed my self in months and was 8 1/2 weeks along when I had my first appointment!!! But when I went into labor I was around 190!!! I had most of my pregnancy during the winter and don't like the cold and live in New England, so I only went outside if I truely had too!!! I dont remember how much I weighed when I left the hospital 3 days after my c-section but at two weeks pp I had lost thirty pounds and when I went in for my 6 week appt. they said my uterus had shrunk back down to its normal size and I had gained 7 lbs!!!

Your uterus wont return to its original size until about 6 months after birth. Unless you breast feed then your body naturally gets back to normal within a few months. 3 instead of 6. your baby weight won't come off completely at least for most women unless you are really active. It is okay to have a little fat because babies like that anyway to sleep on to jump on etc......Strange story for you...I was around 200lbs when I got pregnant and then dropped down to 178 and at the time of delivery I was 190 and was back down to 175 when i left the hospital but now I am back up to 200 again and haven't changed my diet.

Summer- This may sound weird, but the Octomom did the strength training along with a few friends of mine. You don't need to do cardio because you will get enough of that from staying active while taking care of your little one. The yoga I'm too sure on, my fiancee said it may help me.
Mary- I as well gained a bit more after wards, while I did not eat in the hospital either! YUCK! But, I know they told me I was retaining fluids from the pitocin (that did not work on me! UGH!) and how much fluids they pump through you during labor.

Before I became pregnant w/my daughter I was 130-135lbs, when I gave birth to her I was at least 200lbs! I went down to 175lbs, in which is the weight I stayed at and could not loose any more weight no matter how hard I tried!! (I was on birth control though). Then I became pregnant w/son last yr, my son will be 2months old on the 10th. When I went into labor w/ him I was at least 225lbs! My 6 wk check up I believe I was 200lbs. What slightly helped, but seemed like it would have to be a perminant diet. This was lots of walking (chasing my at the time 3 yr old), eatin yogurt, fresh fruit, salads, smaller portions, and drinking ONLY water!! When I did this, I could see a difference in my figure and so could other, however the pounds did not go down. I think it might have toned me, and the weight just spread out and proportioned it's self much better. I don't believe in the whole diet thing, because that is something that you will always have to continue!! But, now that I have had my 6wk check up I am going to do "strength training" (google will tell you what those exercises are) and yoga.

I was 115 before I got pregnant, 155 when I went into labor and 157 when I left the hospital (after hardly eating any hospital food! Why does that happen!!!!!) I dropped down to 139 within three weeks but then STAYED 139 for two months! It was really frusterating being used to be slim and trim at 115 (which is probably NEVER going to happen again). After seriously counting every calorie (I can't go too low because I'm breast feeding) and eating a high protein and low fat diet was able to go down to 132 in about 2 weeks but I'm still working on it! It's totally frusterating, I know.
