How often should I be giving my 3 month old a bath

my daughter is 6months and she gets one or two baths a week. she gets bad dry skin when she has a bath. i cant put anything in the water.

if shes made a mess (poop explosion,messy dinner time etc...) then she will get a bath n hair wash.

but babys dont sweat and get greasy hair like adults. most days she will have a top to toe wash down insted. she seems to like that better then a bath.

As you choose. My son spit up a lot so I bathed him everyday. He was born in summer With my 2 month old, about once a week with real bath and use bath wipes to clean her every other day or 2. She smells fresh. I wash her hair during real bath and on Sat. with holding her head over sink while she lays on towels on counter.

everyday is a bit much for a baby that young in my opinion they arent like adults with body odor and all i just keep his face and hands clean with a wipe or something with diaper changes. Everyday would make him a dry prune he already has cradle cap and dry skin. I bathe him every 3 days or so.

I bathe my three kids, one 7, one 3, and one 5mts every night. It sets the bedtime routine and helps get that last burst of energy out. I started this with my youngest at one month. As long as you dont use soap on the body every time, just hair, your baby shouldn't have any skin dryness. A gentle lotion after washing is also good.

We give our son a bath everyday, but we don't use soap everyday because he is prone to dry skin. But baths are a part of our nighttime routine so even if we don't soap him up, we still stick him in the tub for some splashy time.

Night time is the best if you use a lavender wash and lotion.it helps relax the baby and makes it easier for you to put them down to bed. If you do it every day make sure that they are moisturizesed very well thats it. Some times you have to wash them every day. If you don't then it should be every other day. If my four month old gets really puky then he gets a bath and i don't care if he had one the night before. if its not going to hurt them and make them uncomfortable then i say do it. Doctors know a lot but every child is diffrent.

Well, i was told not to. What i would do is every other day give her a bath and on the other days i would just give her a wipe down. I did it right b4 bed. This got her use to taking a bath and didnt dry her skin out. Petting on to uch lotion or oil can b as bad as giving a bath everyday. This was advise from my PEDI.

My daughter is now 6 months old, but at 3 months she was getting a bath every other day. Now it all depends its either every day or every other depends what we did that day, we live in GA so its hot and humid. So if we were out doors alot at the pool or ocean she obviously would get a bath every day sometimes :)

i also think bathing too much dry their skin out, and personally while my little girl was young and not eating or crawling, she hardly got dirty at all, I used to bath her may 3 times a week and top and tail her the rest of the time, i also used to put oil gel on her after a bath and i found this kept her skin lovely, locks moisture in.

I bathe my one month old baby girl every other day, unless she poops alot and spits up alot that day, then she gets a bath for sure. She loves when I put lotion on her. Johnsons has a great bed time lotion, it seems to sooth her.

Another thing: If you find that baby is getting nappy rash alot or has had nappy rash a while and nothing is working, Water! Water really works, clears the worst rash up in 3 days, instead of using wipes, buy disposable nappy liners (they can be washed and re used if not heavily soiled) with a bowl of warm water to wash baby's bum after a change, and they love it too!

i think of your baby doesn't have dry skin or skin problems then its okay to bathe him/her everyday. I bathe my daughter every night. Personally i wanted to get her in a routine early of bath, pjs,book, and bed time. It relaxes her before bed time. I massage her with tons of lotion. I know babies cant get too dirty but they spitup, poo and pee on themselves.

I bathe my three month old once every two days before he goes to bed, but in the morning time I take a regular size bowl from the kitchen and fill it with warm water and some bath wash. And I wipe him down so that he doesn't have that access milk under his neck and his private area is clean so he won't get a diaper rash. I did the same thing with my one year old when he was that age. It worked just fine for me still til this day. Hope this works for you!

you should give your baby a bath every other day but keep lotion on him/her. then when he/she is about 4-6 months start giving your baby a bath everyday. they slobber and sweat not to mention dryed milk around their mouth and neck. the best time is around bed time it helps them sleep better. hope this helps

my daughter is 4 months now and i only give her a bath every second day. she loves her baths so she getts to stay in there as long as she is happy and the water is warm. she seems to be fine only havin a bath every second day. she has a bath feed and bed, bout 6 or 7 at night. it seems to help her sleep

Jennifer it sounds like you are doing a fantastic job even without the help of the daddy at this time, my 4 month old has been sleeping through the night since 8 weeks and my other daughter since 6 weeks, routine is a big thing for me and the kids, keeps me sane and keeps them knowing what is coming next :)

I bathe my little one every night. I do the bath, feed/webcam with Daddy, bed routine. I dont use any lotions or oils on him and his skin is just fine. He loves the water and getting to splash around for a bit relaxes him enough for bedtime. Hes almost three months old and sleeps through the night.

I bath my 4 month old every other day, bath, bottle, bed is how its done here. I NEVER used baby oil because that is made from refined petrol and I think its disgusting people use it without even finding out about it first. Her skin is perfect.

I bath my baby depending on how dirty I think he is. Sometimes I wait a day but never more than 2 days. It'll dry there skin if you use to much shampoo and soap. I just use a gentle head to toe baby wash and a small amount. I bath my baby shortly before his bedtime. Helps him to sleep good but not all babies are the same it might wake your baby up. So you want to see what works for your little one.

I bathe my four month old every other day. We massage him with baby lotion after and he seems to love it :). we have the oppisite issue of it being to hot, here it is cold- canada, so im more worried about the time when hes getting out of the warm bath into the colder air! but his skin is still soft and smooth with bathing every other day.. and my friends baby is bathed everyday, and hes fine.. so it depends on your baby i guess, and what your comfortable with ur routine being!

I like to bathe my daughter when it is warmer out... like mid day. For the past few days, it had been cold here where I live so I like to put her towel and a blanket in the dryer for a spin so when she is done with her bath, she goes straight into a warm towel.



I bathe her every other day to every 3 days still, like when she was a newborn. i think it isn't necessary to bathe her everyday since she isn't getting into everything and putting bowls of spaghetti on her head yet. lol. Babies at 3 months don't get that dirty...even though they have diapers and are sitting in pee or poop for a while, you clean them with wipes. The only time I bathe her more than every other day is if... Lets say I gave her a bath yesterday, but we are going to a special event and people are going to be passing her around or if she throws up or somehting...then I would be giving her another bath.



As for dry skin, I like to give my daughter baby massages with baby lotion or baby oil. It keeps her skin nice and soft...smells great too =]

it's recomended to bath babies 1 to 3 times a week depending on how dirty they get.

i bath my daughter every 2 to 3 days (15 weeks old) and my son every other day (19 months old).

However when I start putting her into her own room (in about 3 months time, she sleeps in a moses basket by the side of my bed) I'm going to start the bath, feed and bed routine as it helped lots to get my son to settle down.

i bathe my 3 month old everyday. he doesnt have dry skin at all. they are puking, peeing and pooing in their diapers so in my opinion they are getting dirty.

We always bathed our son every night just so he would have some routine and know that it was soon time for bed. But 2-3 times a week is fine if a routine is not an issue. Obviously you need to wash their butt, hands, face etc every day but that takes about as long which is another reason we just did a whole bath.

probably every 2-3 days is ok, they don't get very dirty but if it is hot where you are then i would everyday.

we have just started bathing my 5 month old every night before bed (used to be middle of the day) because she gets very sweaty with the heat and it is part of her night time routine now. i started bathing at night because i noticed she was always tired after a bath so i guess see how your baby reacts if it wakes your baby up then day time is better but if it makes them sleepy just before bed is good.

just always follow up with a good moisturiser and their skin stays baby soft

wow they say not to but my son has dry skin and i bathe him everyday it is always good to do oil based moisturisers water based moisturisers can also dry out skin believe it or not and i live by the night time bath it relaxes my son amd helps him get to sleep

I think giving a baby a bath everyday is fine......I smother both my boys with baby moisturiser after their bath. I usually do BATH BOTTLE BED that way they get to know a regular routine
