My girl will only use Gumdrop or Soothie - anything else - she spits it out :) For teh Gumdrop - I ordered on-line from Hawaii Medical - this is the brand the hospital gave out. The soothie is from Toys R Us (Canada).

Yes, they do infact sell MAM brand soother's in canada. I have purchased a couple of them from Shoppers Drug Mart and one from Wal-Mart. My son will not take a soother either, we tried them all. The only ones we had a tiny bit of success with were MAM brand soothers and the Born Free brand. We came to the realization a couple weeks ago that it may not be a bad thing that our son has little interest in them and have stopped trying to find one that he'll take all the time.
If you think about it, it's one less thing you have to ween them from right?
Here is the link for the MAM homepage, its based in the UK I believe, but you'll atleast have an idea of what the packaging looks like, there are so many on the shelves it can be over-whelming- haha! http://www.mambaby.co.uk/soothers.htm
Good Luck Melissa!!

I don't know if they have them in Canada. I'm sure they do. I live in the US and got them at Walgreens which is a drugstore chain.

My son will only use Soothie Pacifers, whcih they used when he was in the NICU. The nipple of the paci is straight and doesn't curve up. I know they are avaible in stores here, but not sure if they are in Canada. But I know you can purchase online, also the Gerber ones Emily recommended, also.
Website for soothie...

Niether of my kids really liked any pacifiers. My oldest would take a Nuk brand one every so often. The little one hated Nuks but would occasionally do a MAM (I think that was the brand). If he hates them changing your thinking might help save your sanity! Instead of saying, "My baby uses me as a pacifier" consider thinking something along the lines of, "Babies with pacifiers uses them as breasts." since breasts are nature's default and pacifiers are designed to simulate comfort sucking. It might help somewhat. Good luck!
