Originally some of the names I came up with for my daughter were Serenity, Sade( just the way it sounds) then talking to my dad after she was born we told him we named her Sade he asked were I came up with that name and I told him from the singer he says never heard of it calls me back a few hrs later and says do u mean Sade like the singer who sings no irdinary love and said yeah that one told me I was pronouncing it wrong and told me how to say it so we changed the spelling to were everyone could understand it and say it and her name is Shauday and I wouldnt change it for the world!!!!! She fits the name for sure she loves to sing!!!

Wait, she named her daughter Kingsley? Seriously? I've been trying to turn over a new leaf in being nonjudgmental about names' but seriously? A girl named king? Now that's just the most absurd thing yet.

Might as well name your son faerie.

Grrrr

Charlie, fine, I've given up on the boys names for girls thing for the most part. I still think its demeaning to girls and anti feminist but whstever. But Kingsley is not just a male name it's a descriptive word of a male.

if you want something that's not too common, but you don't want something 'weird' either, have a look through some of the older, more traditional names that have long since disappeared off the most popular lists. My sister just called her baby girl Emmeline (pronounced Emma-lene), which is quite old-fashioned but very pretty and you hardly ever hear it. I know someone who has named her daughters Penny, Alice and May, and I've heard of names like Harriette, and Josephine (shortened to Josie) recently too - all the older names that people long stopped using because they were too 'common', but now they are different again while still being traditional.

I like classic names. If I was to have another little girl I would call her Lauren. I like names that people will respect and take seriously later on in life. Not to cutesy or girly. My name is Devon. I always love seeing the shock on peoples faces when they met me while expecting a man. That's why I named my daughter Taylor. Classic but pretty but keeps people guessing. Her middle name is Alyssa to define her as a girl.

Whats really special ,is naming baby after your favorite relative or a deceased freind, successful celebrity, historical figure, city, month, place.

Its not what sounds cool or pretty its the weight of the history behind the name.Make a little book based on research and pictures of the person your babe was named after.Depict information about what makes that Person incredibly special and incredibly human(imperfections included) so that they can strive to be different and learn from the imperfections and success.Share with child at age 4 and every year after.A child should not grow up thinking about how cool or different their names are.A child should grow up feeling valued and

more connected to who they are as an individual and that might start with just the name. What value and expectations your child perceives that they have on society might start with most special name you can give your child. Its not just a pretty name you can give your child... its the legend that lives to follow the name..
