Are you breastfeeding? When I was breastfeeding I didn't get my period at all, and once I stopped it came back like normal. Otherwise, get a different doc and ask them about Clomid- it's a pill that induces your period. I went off birth control to try for my baby, and didn't get a period for a long time... finally went to the doctor and was prescribed this.

when i got off depo it took me close to 17 months to have a period. i was only on it for a year

Hi there...I have also been on the 3month injection and my last was also in august! I got my period Last month...and I bled for almost 3 weeks! I heard it takes about a year for the hormones to work out of your system, but Ive also heard that people fall pregnant quite soon after going off the injection. I think you guys should try having intercoarse non the less. Another option would be to consult your gynocologist/doctor/clinic sister for better advice. All the best!

I wasn't on the depo shot just the pill, but it still took 3 months for my period to start again after I stoppped the pill. I did talk to my doctor about it before my period started again, and she did say they can induce a period, I didn't have it done, because luckily it started just after. I would get a second opinion or another doctor. Good luck!

just keep having Sex believe me if u want to get pregnant u will n u dont need ur period to come back in order to get pregnant just keep trying and good luck!!

I have never had the shot but i have had the implant. All i can say is u just have to be patient and i know it sucks. I was trying for a baby fro ages afte i took out my implant and it took me almost 2 years. I know that it should take less time with the shot tho. Just have a little patience and if it isnt back within 3 mths go see ur gyno and see what they say

If I would you I'd consider contacting a naturopath, and someone who can work with you on anxiety related to the depo. Sometimes I wonder if we are fearing something might not happen or it will cause it to take longer, does that make sense? I do have some suggestions but they are not medical, and they are more related to herbs, alternative treatments, ect. You would have to research whether or not they would work for you, but when I was trying to get pregnant 3 years after Depo I drank chaste berry tea, used progesterone cream, and drank green tea ( at the time I read it could help with fertility). One year later I was pregnant, but I cannot honestly tell you if it was just mind over matter. Maybe it was the fact that I felt like I was doing something to help myself or if it actually worked. Gland tapping is great thing to stimulate the body and mind. like I said though, these were just some things I did. You would probably want to research different methods , both medical and natural to see if you can get your body in sync again, and decide what you are comfortable with doing.

I live in Canada and I know our health care system is different here but that's just not right! I had a doctor that I just didn't get along with either but at least he had the decency to refer me to a new doctor that I love! She's actually a N.P. ( Nurse Practicioner ) which means she works under the doctor but is still allowed to write perscriptions just has no hospital operating priviledges! Good luck! It will all happen when it's supposed to! ;)

Hi, Most of what you've seen so far is true. I have used Depo for 3 years and it took almost 2 years to get it completely out of my system. I didnt see my period at ALL during those years which got me worried. I was trying to get pregnant in the 4th year and i had a miscarriage. I waited one more year and voila! here is Natalia....now 6mnths and 6 wks old...My son is now 9y 6mths and 3 wks...lol...

Try using the ovulation test to monitor yourself...that will help to give you a more accurate time to try....Also dont make it a chore to try and concieve....dont try too much or too hard..believe me...i was and it was only after i stopped trying so hard and had a whatever attititue then i finally got pregnant...and oh what a feeling! Hope this helps.

i was on depo for 5 years and it took me two years to get pregnant wen i went off of it. just keep trying, it will happen. My docter did say that it would take a year for the shot to be completly out of the body.

never had depo very close freind of mine did and I remember the doctor telling us that it could take almost to a year to see a peroid again thats why i change my mind about having it as a birth control.

Try a new doctor - maybe a female who will be a little more sympathetic. Also, someone mentioned that just because you don't have your period doesn't mean you're not ovulating, and suggested a pregnancy test, which you have already done. Have you tried one of those ovulation tests? I have never used one myself, so don't really know how they work, but I think you use them the same way as a pregnancy test (can't be sure though) and they tell you when you are ovulating. Perhaps you could check it out this way? You can get them from the Chemist or supermarket, right next to the pregnancy tests.

oh and btw, nuva ring is a form of birth control thats inserted into the vagina that you leave in for 3 weeks and take out for a week. i think starting birth control just to regulate will probably help you the best. and btw nuva ring is nice :) im on it.

hey dani. i was on the depo and when you get off it can take up to a year to have a baby. bummer i know. but your body is used to not having a period so it will take awhile to get back to normal. when i was on depo i began to bleed for 8 months. so i wish i didn't have mine. good luck on trying for baby number 2! :)

hi thanks for both your replies so quickly, i went to see my doctor today unfortunetly he isnt a very nice man (one of those who doesnt approve of teenage moms) he told me there was no such thing to enduce periods and that i had plenty of years i shouldnt be trying again already. Meagan whats a nuva ring? maybe if i go in and ask for a certain thing my doc wont be able to deny me?

Hi Dani, I have never had the depot shot, so I don't know when you would expect to get your period back, but I guess as with any hormonal birth control it may take a while for your cycle to regulate back to 'normal'. But, just because you haven't got a period doesn't necessarily mean that you aren't ovulating. So my suggestion would be to keep trying, trying, trying and try again (for baby number 2). :). You may fall pregnant without even having a period in between. On that note, have you taken a pregnancy test recently. It is possible that you may already be pregnant. Or, as always... when in doubt, go see your doctor. They may have advice on trying to conceive or have info about the depot clearing from your system that you didn't know.



As for getting your period back, I know that evening primrose oil and ginger are excellent for toning the uterus so ginger tea is a nice easy and natural way to help regulate your reproductive system without causing harm. Just be careful with evening primrose oil if you suspect you may already be pregnant, it should not be taken during pregnancy except towards the very, very end (it can cause the uterus to contract). Good luck, I hope someone else can also offer you some advice here.

I'm going thru the same thing I haven't had a period since October of '09 and I got off the Depo last month but still haven't gotten a period so my OB put me on the Nuva Ring to see if that will jump start my periods again.
