infant blisters on penis

My son is 2 months old. He was born at 35 weeks and spent 15 days in the Special Care Nursery. He is circumcised and this was done while he was still at the hospital when he was a week old. Everything healed nicely and there were no problems at all- not only my opinion, he was also in the care of professionals at the hospital who watched him heal.

About a week ago I was changing his diaper and noticed a yellow blister bubble on his foreskin toward the tip of his penis. The next day it was still there for the majority of the day and then went down. Two days later, it came back and there was another part blistered on the opposite side. The weirdest thing about it is the fact that sometimes it is there and other times it is impossible to see where it was. It is not hard, not crusted, not red... only yellow and raised.

I asked a pediatrician who I met (going to his own doctor this week) but the ped I asked had never seen/heard of such a thing.

I do know I switched diaper brands around that week- I had been using Pampers exclusively and started using some Huggies diapers and I still am.

Has anyone ever seen anything of the sort happen to your son? No fever, no pus leaking out, just blisters that come and go. PLEASE HELP!!

yeah it does.... my son has very sensitive skin...he has baby acne and I cant use anything with ANY fragrance like shampoos and body wash etc.... Im thinking about changing diapers and see if that helps at all.

I am going to let you know what the pediatrician says on Thursday (thats his 2 mo visit)

Get the unscented wipes & if pampers gave no reaction, use those, if not, you're going to have to find the unscented sensitive diapers. those are a bit more pricey, but hey, if those are the only ones that don't give your baby an allergic reaction, you have to do it. good luck, i hope he feels better!

I don't have a little boy but both of my girls had sensitive skin and the only diapers I was able to use were pampers. Idk y but they seem to get a rash with any other kind.

sounds like a reaction to the diaper. kids get diaper rashes, allergies and even fungus down there as a reaction to wipes, diapers, certain lotions/creams. i would go back to pampers and see if that resolves it. i know you just bought a box of huggies, but if your son is having a reaction to either the material or the fragrance, then you definitely need to switch them. also, try rinsing him off with water instead of wipes when u're changing him, that might help. if changing diapers doesn't help, i would go talk to a doctor to see if it's a dermatological problem or an allergy on something else that comes out over there because that's where his skin is most sensitive. good luck!

I just found the same thing on my son. I had used Huggies wipes the day before because I ran out of my regular Pamper wipes. I'm not sure that caused it but that is the only thing we did different. I went back to Pampers and no blisters.

I actually just called the doctor about this. My son is 1 month and 3 weeks and this is the 2nd time he has had a blister. The first just came and we cleaned the area and put Vaseline on it and it went away on its own. Now today I realized he has 2 on the other side that have popped up. When I called the doc she said the same thing that they have never heard of that happening so I was curious if it was normal. I'm glad I found this post. I have changed his wipes around bc we got different brands as gifts so I will change back to sensitive and see if it helps. Thanks

Yes I hope its just a reaction to the diaper... I would hate for it to be infected :(  Thanks so much!

I am not sure really! I mean he has baby acne.... his dad and I both do have sensitive skin.  Does your son's blister come and go like that???
