I had to give my son amoxicillin when he was young, too. I felt so nervous. It gave him a little bit of diahhrea, but otherwise was fine. But you need to choose - follow the directions exactly, giving it three times a day or whatever, or don't give her any. If you only give a little bit, it will only make the bacteria stronger. It will come back worse than ever. Please make sure you follow the instructions EXACTLY.

The second time my son had to have it, when he was 1 year old, he had a double ear infection and tonsil infection, and he had to take 10 days worth of the antibiotics! (amoxicillin) I went to the natural health food store and bought some probiotics for babies and on the 11th day gave him the probiotics mixed up in his food, and did it every day for a few months. He's been healthy ever since. (that was 6 months ago)

I think that the antibiotics are really good when they are needed, but they kill the good bacteria as well as the bad bacteria, which makes the baby vulnerable to getting sick again. The probiotics put the good bacteria back so that the baby's immune system can fight off the bad bacteria. I would recommend you do that, too. I used "Udo's Choice" brand, but probably any of them are good.

It scared me that I was giving him antibiotics, because I've heard that the body takes 3 years to get rid of the effects of them. Hopefully with these probiotics it cuts that time down to a few months.

Again, I'm not saying antibiotics are bad, because they're not. It's just that they take their toll on the body.

Knowing what I know now, I think I would have refused the antibiotics for the first ear infection, because I don't think it was that bad and I think my son could have healed by himself. But I was very grateful for the antibiotics the second time, because I think that without them he would have suffered some sort of hearing loss.

I hope that helps a little. You can message me if you want.

i'm with elizabeth, give it to her for sure! and it's very important to give the full dose prescribed or else it won't work as well.

yes give her the medicine. An ear infection that goes untreated can cause the ear drum to perforate (get a hole in it) and cause hearing loss. Plus your daughter is feeling miserable with the ear infection and 10 days of the Amox will make her feel better quickly. Make sure to finish the ten days or it can come back even if she is feeling better right away. My babes had to have antibiotics that young too. They were fine, however some kids get a diaper rash when they take it and it clears up after they are done. So if she gets one you will know why, Also some kids may also get looser bowels but that is usually with a heavier antibiotic.
