Hi, well i just a have a question, just in general i guess.

I went to a pregnancy group, and people came in with their 'new' babies, and one girl said to me.. she said.. "ohh when the baby came out, i told the midwife not to give it to me until it was cleanfrom all that goo and stuff"..

Im sorry, but seriously... i cannot be the only person in this world who hugged, kissed and loved their 'gooey' baby?

my baby was handed to me straight after she came out and i wouldnt have had it any other way.

Plus u r usually a mess when ur having a baby anyways so really a lil goo to hold ur child shouldnt be a big deal (my personal thoughts)

No you are definitely not the only one who couldn't wait to get their hands on what they worked so hard for and waiting so long for. I was surprised at how warm they felt and couldn't wait to get them next to me.

As soon as they cut the cord the doctor plopped her on my stomach for like 5-10 seconds then they whisked her away to clean her up, also she didn't start crying till after they took her away. Then they brought her back like 5 minutes later all wrapped up and cleaned up a little and I carried her for like 5 min, but I was getting my stitches so they took her off to the nursery again until I was back in my room.

I had c sections, so i wasn't really given the chance, but I do know that I had em take the baby back from over the curtain because they'd hang the poor babies over the curtain and I'd nearly puke everytime. More because of anesthesia, not because of anything else, really. Heck, when my one daughter was born stillborn, I did have her vaginal and was able to take her. But I wasn't tanked up on all kinds of meds that made me sick, either. Some people are just easily grossed out by blood and "goo." Some aren't. Some people aren't guilty of being grossed out by choice and are just under the influence of meds makin em sick. lol. But otherwise, I'd hope a mom wouldn't be turned off by her baby. Its HER baby, THEIR goo! lol.

with my oldest and youngest daughters I loved all over those gooey little things. I wasn't able to with my twins. I had a vaginal birth with them, but it was early so they needed immediate monitoring. Had I have been able to I most definitely would have. I don't understand why other moms wouldn't want to, but that's their choice.

I asked to have my baby skin to skin and tried breastfeeding right after she came out, still with the cord attached.

It was wonderful!

No you're not. One of my babies I didn't get to hold right after, but all the rest were laid on me all bloody and greasy. I don't recall if I hugged or kissed them like that, but I definitely held them and looked at them with awe. I mean give me a break, if you can use a tampon or have sex, then you can hold your beautiful newborn baby before they're cleaned up.

too each their own. i had 2 c-sections, so my babies were cleaned up a bit before being given to me. i probably would have snuggled my "gooey" baby if given the chance.

I wanted them to clean my baby before they handed her to me. I have this thing about being dirty. However, the nurse told me that for the baby to regulate her body temperature and heart rate quicker she she to put the baby on my chest. So I let them and held her but I didn't kiss her. Maybe there is something wrong with me and not you. I am glad now that they put her skin to skin with me so soon after. I struggled with the lack of any feeling towards my daughter. It was weird but now i am glad to say I love her more than anything in the world. Hope you feel like you were very loving toward your new baby and it wasn't gross!

When I found out  had to have a c-section due to my daughter's breech presentation I was soooo disapointed that I couldn't hug my new (gooey) baby immediately. My mother-in-law thought it was strange that I would want to hold my baby immediately. I think its just personal.

When my daughter was born, the nurses took her straight to the warming table. I didn't have the choice to hold her right away. I would have loved to hold her as soon as the cord was cut.

Ok so in any other situation, sure maybe its gooey, but its your baby..who cares what state they come out in!! You just wanna cuddle and breathe in every baby inch of them...I know that I didn't even notice anything, coz I was too busy being an emotional first time mum and crying my eyes out hehe.. yeah i know i'm a wuss :)

I do not remember anything being nasty with either one of my children all i remember is that they were absolutly perfect.. In fact both of my children had cone heads when they were born and with the first my mom said something about it and so i had to look as some pictures to see what she was talking about and the same happened with the second baby b/c like i said all i saw was that they were perfect!!!

My son went straight on my belly when he was born. I touched his gooey body and all. It's natural and at that point in time I think them being unclean is the last thing going through your mind. People that act like that are just immature.

[deleted account]

Oh I definitely hugged, kissed, and loved on my "gooey" baby! I wouldn't let them clean her off, I just put a blanket over the two of us and snuggled her for hours.

and of coarse there are those who breast feed and they don't what if the girl who got her baby cleaned up was one of those who breast fed... hmmm I did and I would never formula feed.

This girl obviously never felt the instant attachment to her child. I couldn't care less about my babies being clean before I got to hold them! I just wanted them in my arms and wanted to kiss them and love them and stare at all their little features! What a strange person!

i loved my baby, but then again i know know a mom who could not stnd breastfeeding. she said it grossed her out. she had to keep herself covred the whole time. i was thinking, then why the hell breastfeed if your not going to enjoy it you dumbass right or am i wrong? i find breastfeeding to be awesome and a great way to bond with your baby.

for my first i didnt get him until he was all cleaned up but thats because i tore really really bad and they wanted to get me fixed up before i had him.

i was the same .. they cleaned my son up and handed him to his daddy while i was getting stitched up .. although i would have loved the skin to skin contact (i got it for a couple of minutes before he was handed to daddy) .. it was actually in my birth plan for daddy to have the first cuddle! (not that i had time to get my plan out of my bag)

they wrapped him a towel first off as well before handing him to me.

I held both my children as soon as they were born, the second I held him and cut the cord. I'm sorr but if you're going to have a baby people must understand it is gross at times, that's one of the funniest and silliest things I've ever heard!

Well they will have the baby wrapped in a blanket and they usually wipe the baby quickly on your belly before they give the baby to you. Besides, after all that pushing and you hear the baby cry, you are gonna want him RIGHT AWAY. lol good luck

wow. Both of my children were place directly on my stomach before the cord was even cut. It didn't even cross my mind that they weren't perfect...'goo' or not.

Having a baby shouldn't be a vain moment. I'm sure that she was one of those girls that had to have her hair and makeup perfect before she'd allow anyone to take pictures as well. I had to have 3 c-sections so I was not able to hold any of my children immediately. I would've given anything to hold and kiss that gooey little mess!

Nope I took my baby girl before they could cut the cord! If you love em you don't care. I mean as they grow up you get puked on, pooped on, peed on, food thrown at you, snot all over you and I mean honestly if you cant deal with holding your baby when he or she is born you can't deal with having to take care of them either!
