Play games like peek-a-poo. Leave the room say you will be back.. and when you come back say something like 'that wasn't so bad mom said she would be back'. It is more then normal at this age and I would actually be concerned if the baby hadn't hit this stage yet.

Separation anxiety is usually at its worst around 6 months for girls and 9 months for boys.

It passes when they reach the next developmental stage which includes learning things like object permanence (that something still exists even when they cant see it) and a perception of time (that there is a "later" and you will come back later). Starting to crawl also helps because they are in control of being able to move towards you instead of being stuck in one place while you move away.

yes it is. they cant start having seperation anxiety starting at 6 months old. so they say. my lo has had it sience he was 3 months old
