What exactly should I be doing with my 5 week old during the day? She will hang out in the bouncer or swing minimally, but really just wants to be held. They are not really old enough to play...what else can we do?

Get some books out of the library about child play - they have heaps of ideas like rhymes, songs, rolling, swaying, playing with tin plates, pom poms etc which are good for little ones.

Have you tried a sling or wrap? That way you can have her with you and she is being held but you can still get stuff done. Try tummy time - it's never too early!

take a blanket lay it on the floor lay our sweet little one in the middle of it. Get some toys maybe a toy that she can play under turn on the music and light and lay there with her explaining to her what everyhting is and how to work it. the more you talk to her and explain things the more she will understand as she gets older. I know your probably going to feel a little silly talking to a baby that doesnt understand a word you are saying. She loves to hear your voice all the time. This is such an amazing time with your sweet baby. Enjoy every minute of it because it wont last for long!!!

just hold her, talk to her and tell her what you are doing as you do it, kiss her belly, can probably start tummy time as well but only for a minute at a time. just some ideas

Hold her. That's what she's biologically designed to expect. Humans are of the sort of mammal that carry their infants on their bodies.
There's no particular entertaining you have to do. Just carry her. In fact, you could get a carrier, like a mei tai (I'm using one in my picture), or a ring sling.

take her for a walk maybe? read to her? i know it may seem early for that at 5 weeks, but I read in a book that reading to baby stimulates their brains and even though they cant understand the words they pick up more on the rhythm of speech. you could join a play group or a mommy and baby exercise class... just some ideas.. im at the same stage with my son pretty much!
