I must be the only person here where breastfeeding did not help me lose weight!!!! I actually gained weight while breastfeeding. I had to eat so much to make milk that I was gaining almost 2 pounds a week. When I reached 20 pounds, I called it quits! I gained 19 pounds during my pregnacy, and left the hospital "pre-pregnancy" weight.....so i guess the 20 pounds is still less to carry around then some have to lose. I just started slim fast and working out to the Biggest looser DVD and dropped the weight pretty fast...good luck to you and congratulations!

the best way is to breastfeed it really melts the pounds away. i gained 31 pounds while i was pregnant and lost almost 10 the first week after my son was born. i have been breastfeeding ever since i gave birth and the pounds just keep melting away. another thing that can help you is post-baby exercise techniques. i think they cna be found in the back of the books doctors give you when first find out you are pregnant. i think you might even be able to find them on the internet as well.

I did weight watchers diet and in 3 months lost 22lbs im still on the diet as i gained alot of weight during my pregnancy due to pre eclampsia , and having symphsis pubic disorder which limited me on my excersise as i couldnt walk very far !
Its friendly to breastfeeding mothers as its not a low/high carbohydrate or high/low fat diet its just keeping saturated fat to a low ...! Hope this helps =] x

I express a lot (had problems breastfeeding) and it helped me lose weight fast (when I say a lot, I was expressing 1 litre a day by 3 weeks post natal and am expressing 2 litres of milk a day now, 3 months later!).. need some light exercise program organised to tone though - maybe chat with a physio :)

I normally wear a 14 I am now in 10 and working on a size 8.
These products rock that I started sharing them with friends and family and Im making income on a part time bases. If you would like more info please email me back.

Breastfeeding does help. However, I do know of something else that will give you instant results. No pills, dieting, or surgery needed. Its called bodymagic. You can literally drop 2-3 dress sizes in 10 minutes while enhancing your boobs, and buttocks that you may already have or not have. Contact me for more info. i would love to tell you more about this garment. My sister and I dropped all of our after baby weight instantly!!

I knew that I didn't want to keep the baby weight, so I stayed in good shape while pregnant. I walked at least 30 minutes every day and did strength training or prenatal yoga a couple times a week. I'm sure that was a huge help, my drs thought I put on the perfect amount of weight, and my labor and delivery were very fast and smooth (approx 5 hours total, no drugs) and I think it was because my endurance was up and muscles were used to being worked! Breastfeed!!! I took a couple weeks off after Kaya was born and then walked 10 minutes a day (her in the baby bjorn) for the first week, then added 15 minutes the second week, and continued adding 5 minutes a day until I was walking 30-45 minutes each day. Baby and I both loved it! Wait until the dr says you can do more exercise (usually around 6 weeks after birth). Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!

Quoting Jessica:

If you are Not going to nurse and you are in a rush to drop the weight I did the south beach diet and it worked like MAGIC, my daughter was born in June and by November I was size 2, I did it for just for a month since I was breastfeeding before and I only had 7 kilograms left. Is pretty intense so please CHECK with your DOCTOR before you do it.

She's right, its awesome!! And other than the first 2 weeks your not really depriving yourself of anything its actually a very healthy diet. I had kinda fell off of it a few years ago, my fiance & I are talking about going on it, well me again because I need to loose the baby weight before my wedding in May, and he's got a sympathy gutt that he wants to loose by then too.

Not sure if you are planning on breast feeding, but that helped me loose a lot of baby weight and not to mention the excercise. Also if you head out to Walmart/Target they have these really tight underwear- coursettes- they really help to flatten the tummy too- walmart is the cheapest for the same brand in target or the malls. But the more you breast feed/pump...the more you loose....

Depends what kind of weight you put on.. If its a fair bit of fat you'll need to exercise and eat healthy. I always put on almost 30kgs when I'm preggers, I go from Aussie size 6 to a 14/ 55kgs to 75kgs, but its fluid retension... Its in my arms, legs, face everywhere! There isn't anything I can do to stop this. BUT I breastfeed, eat healthy (and enough to sustain milk suply) and live a fairly active life style.
It takes me around 8weeks to get my figure back.
So I suggest:
Don't miss meals!
Breastfeeding
Healthy diet (not cutting out carbs or protien, just cut down on sat. fats and sugar)
Drink plenty of water
Do a healthy detox (check to make sure it doesn't affect your baby)
And just think in an active state of mind, make everything a game! Its fun and rewarding!
Having allot of sex, makes you look fantastic too! ;)
Hope I could help ;)
Have an awesome day ;0

I don't know if this was an issue for other people, but just becareful breastfeeding and eating less at the same time to loose weight. I did that not knowing any better (and it was working fantastically!) but my body stopped making enough milk and my supply dropped really low (this is when we found out my baby can't suck on a bottle so it was really hard to find another way to feed him). Check with your doctor and maybe get a referral to a dietician who can tell you how to loose weight without affecting your milk.

are you going to be nursing? if so, NO DIETING...JUST EAT REALLY HEALTHY, NURSE AWAY, AND WALK, WALK WALK...if not nursing, and you can afford it...try nutrisystem for a controlled weight loss program that works...otherwise, eat healthy and exercise...that is the key...

Breastfeeding did it for me, too. I feed whenever she wants to eat. Lost all the baby weight in 2 weeks (NOT typical - I lost a ton of blood), and have since lost 10 more.

Breaastfeeding has seriously worked miracles for me!! I gained a total of 40 lbs during my pregnancy and all but 10 of it is gone at less than 6 weeks pp!! Of course, portion control and excersize help, too. Before I got prego I did high protien and low carbs, and drank tons of water, it worked great for me!
