Personally I think feeding by demand is the best way to go. You take your cues from your baby's hunger. When you feed on a schedule, you are teaching them to either ignore their hunger pangs or feed when they arent hungry which isn't going to help them into healthy eating habits when they are older.

i have a lil baby boy who is now 3 months... but at 6 weeks he would ask for milk every 2-3 hrs. sometimes they are having a growth spurt and just need more, for some babies this is 6 weeks, but each baby is different. I would say its perfectly normal :)

My little girl (6weeks)has random feed time - I let her tell me when she is hungry, she can go for 5 hours with out one but on the other hand can be screaming for more after only and hour and a half so trust what your baby is telling you. as long as she is gaining weigh and seems healthy your doing a wonderful job : )

At that age some days my LO wanted to nurse every hour/hour and a half. Babies that age only eat because they are hungry or in rare cases use breast milk as an antacid. As long baby is happy and growing I wouldn't worry to much about it. If you are that concerned though call your pediatrician and talk to the nurse or doctor. Good luck!

If you're breastfeeding then 3 hours is great - don't expect to go longer for a while! They need to get in a certain number of feeds per day (about minimum 6) and as they start to go a little longer at night this means they need to squeeze the rest into the day.
If you're bottle-feeding then you shouldn't exceed the recommended amount for your child's age PER DAY, but your can still give it as often as you like - the bottle will just be smaller if feeds are more frequent.
Relax - if bub is content and growing, all is well!

3 hours should be fine i would think. My lil boy has pretty much always had 3 hour feeds and he is perfectly healthy and certainly not overweight. I think if maybe she putting on too much weight or not feeding for very long each feed try and stretch her out but we were told 3 hours is perfect. And i also think at 6 weeks you can't feed too much. They know what they need.

yes. I was instructed to feed my daughter every 3 hrs. Sometimes she would want to sleep through her feedings and the doc said as long as the baby is gaining weight, to let the baby sleep as long as they don't go 6hrs without eating. My baby is 7 weeks old.

Your baby is the best que for feeding they know naturally what they need, also that is not a huge difference, and my son who is 8 1/2 mo they say 6-8 oz every 4-5 hrs and he eats that about every 2 hrs!!! HE IS NOT OVERWEIGHT in fact he is very thin!
At six weeks old every 2-3 hours is still VERY normal.
