How will you be celebrating Mother's Day? Normally I visit my mother, then my stepmother, and then my Mother-in-Law. Since I am now a mother myself, I kind of what to do something for myself that day! Just curious how others handle this.

I'm getting a tattoo for my first mother's day. I've been wanting one for a long time but I used to be so scared of needles. After a c-section and a week long stay at the hospital and having my blook taken twice a day every day there, i'm kinda over the needle phobia. I'm getting my daughter's name on the back of my left shoulder. As for the day of, I think we'll be hanging out with my mom since my mil lives very far away. Probably go out to eat and spend the day with the family at the park or something. Do something for yourself, then take care of everyone else. We're moms now too, this day's for us! :)

we have a trailer and might open it up that weekend, i'm in the same boat, we usually spend it with the fam! i might just send flowers and take my mom out for lunch the week after.

My first mother's day happens to fall on my birthday this year :) so hopefully it will be extra special!!

Maybe you should go out and do something for yourself first before going and seeing everyone else. Its your first mothers day and im pretty sure your family will understand how exciting and special this day is for you :)

ya, i feel like doing the same. just doing somthing for me this year, we usually visit my mom and mother in law. I have been a mother for 11 years, and I think its overdue. (this is my first being a mother of two :D Happy Mothers Day!!!

I am having a similar problem. I was not in contact with my mother for the past few years, so I have been spending those years with my mother in law. Now that I got in contact with my mother earlier this year, I told my mom that I want my first mothers day to be special. I asked her if she would join me to the zoo.
My mother in law was over and asked us (husband and I ) to come to her cottage for mother day. I told her I already made plans with my mother (I didn't think it would have been a problem seeing as I am now a mother) Well it did start a problem, and I was called selfish because "she is a mother too" I would like the day to be about me and my daughter husband and MY mother who I haven't spoken to in years....but unfortunately the MIL is guilting me into doing what she wants. I will have a short day at the zoo for a few hours and then spend the rest of the day pissed off at my husband for not recognizing me as a new mother, and not allowing me to choose how I want MY day to be spent. Then I will make mention about how I thought it was called "mothers day" and not mother in law day to him before bed.
