My almost 5month old daughter's BM was really dark almost a purple/black color! What could this be?

If it has blood in it then yes you should see a Dr. but I wouldn't be too worried if it's just very dark dark brown to black...like Molasas. I know it sounds funny but you can google baby poop so u can compare the loks to your lil ones. Like I say tho my lil one gets that when she has too much iron. I know you can get the lower iron Enfamil.

her formula is enfamil lipil with iron. this is the second or third time its been this color except it can be fine one day n dark the next. should i make an appt w/ the dr?

Black is a sign of bleeding in the upper GI track. When I had bleeding Ulcers mine were black!

Too much iron is their diet usualy gives dark hard BM. If you giving her Iron fortified formula or cereal this can cause that.
