all babys preogress differnetly, my son had great head support right from birth but the more tummy time your daughter gets the quicker her neck and back muscles will strengthen!

My started holding his head up mostly since 6weeks old but we did lots and lots of tummytime since birth. Hes now 13weeks old and confidently holds his head up but now 100% - Maybe 90%.

every baby is different, some it takes 2 month and some after 1 week.
Give her the time and put her on her tummy when your around.

By the end of her 3rd month birthday, your LO should be able to hold up her head and push up on her forearms while on her tummy. Plenty of Tummy Time will help her achieve these milestones. Health professionals recommend starting TT in small spurts and working up to an hour per day in several shorter increments. For tips on how to incorporate TT into your daily routine, check out this helpful website from Pathways Awareness: http://bit.ly/8IhuuF.

Every baby is different. Now my daughter is 10 weeks and HATES tummy time. It only lasts about a minute before she fusses, but she can hold her head up really well while I am holding her and burping her etc. She just does NOT liket o hold it up when she is on her tummy. We are working at getting her to stay on her tummy longer..no luck yet.

But like the PP said the more tummy time the stronger those muscles will get!

Both of my kids could hold their heads by a month and by 3 months could hold it well....My daughter is 5.5 months and is sitting by herself and has loved tummy time since she was born. If they really hate it you can get a yoga ball and roll them on the top of it...both of my kids love it and now my almost 4 year old does it by himself.

Hey Amy!
Like all the other mothers said tummy time is crucial for her to build her neck muscles to hold her head up! around 4-5 months she should be fairly sturdy, by 6-8 months she will probably be learning to sit and when she has finally built her stomach muscles enough she will be able to hold the full weight of her head and be able to sit by herself. Hopefully this was of some help! Also check out babycenter.com for all those many milestones you will have to look forward to! Take care!

all babies hate tummy time - but if you don't give up and let them stay on their tummy then quicker they'll hold their head, it's all about the muscles in the neck and it's also good for the arms later on when they want to turn from side to side
