I agree with Kendra, there are other factors that contribute to SIDS. my husband and i also agreed that #3 is at low risk because of the other factors. if that is how baby can get rest (which means you rest too) then it might be an options. do some reading on the subject to see what feels right for u

My husband and I just had our fourth child and had never discussed it until our most recent baby. Our other three children slept better on their stomachs and we never thought a second whether we should be doing it or not. We recently found a survey that explained the risks of S.I.D.S which was our concern. We concluded from the information that we were a low risk for our baby developing this because of a few factors: Our baby sleeps in a crib in our room, his birth weight was normal, I had early prenatal care, we have a fan in our room that we always have running, no one smokes in our house, we do not have any pets, we are in our late thirties and not teenagers, I breastfeed our baby, he takes a pacifier, our children were not really close together, we keep our room cool and his crib empty. I am not telling anyone to do it but according to the s.i.d.s website and risk factors we felt that we were making an informed decision for the health of our baby and gave us a peace of mind that he would be okay. I do have a friend that lost a baby to s.i.d.s. Her husband smoked, but not in the house, she kept her baby in the bassinet in the hallway, and she did not breastfeed. I hope this helps. I would have to say, to educate yourself and do what you think is best for your baby. That is all.

It's not recommended to let them sleep on their tummy until they are able to roll over on their own.
