His nose is really stuffed up, and he sounds really "throaty" when he breaths every once and a while. He does not have a fever and otherwise seems to be fine, but it is making hime more difficult to eat and fall asleep.

hey the best way is to stand in the bathroom with them turn the hot water on close all windows and doors and stand there it will clear him up with all the steam

five months is a tough age when they have a stuffy nose. I used "little noses" it's a saline drop for infants. You apply these drops in their nose and let it begin to run out, then use an aspirator to suck out all the stuff. You have to do it several times a day to keep the nasal passages open and they HATE it, but it really does help.

If u have a vaporizer or humidifier put Teatree oil in the water IT WORKS WONDERS !!!! Also if you have saline drops you can try and use up his nose ( but if he is really stuffed up it might not work...)

Johnson's makes a vapor bath that really helps as well. My son had a cold recently, which evolved into croup. We used the vapor bath in the evenings, saline solution and nasal aspirator to suck out the excess (if there was any), and really just tried to keep him comfortable by propping him up slightly when he slept. I also found this plug in vapor thing (kind of looks like a Glade Plug-In), where you plug it into a socket and insert these disks, which fill the room with a sort of eucalyptis (sp) scent that supports breathing. That worked pretty well, and was about $10 at the drug store for the plug in unit and 5 disks. (The disks last about 8 hours and fill up the room within about 30 minutes.) All of these things together seemed to help our son get through it.
I have also heard good things about filling the bathroom with steam and sitting in there with your baby. For us, it is just too hot to do something like that, but it does work wonders. Hope this helps!

Well what my son doctor had me to for my son..was go into the bathroom and get the bathroom wicked steamed up and stay in the with my son for 15 mins every 4 hours. also had him sleep in his car seat at night becuase if my son layed down flat he stoped breathing becuase he was so stuffed up.. try using a vaperizer too..that helped out the most with my son.

My second baby has a stuffy nose right now too. A few things I do to help her out is, putting saline up her nose to losing things up and use the nasal sucker to take out as much as I can. I also put a pot of water to boil and make it moist in the house with a little vick in the water. It makes things get moving.
