My daughter is 4 1/2 months old, and my hair has been falling out like crazy for about a month now. I knew that some of it would fall out, but it is literally handfulls every time I wash or brush my hair. Even running my fingers through it leaves me with hairs all over my hands! is this normal??

I'm at my wits end with hair loss too. Started at 3 months and my baby is 4.5mths now. Seriously considering a 'boy cut'. I'm driven mad picking it from the shower drain, sink drain, hair brush, and bathroom floor.

Mine started falling out later than some of you. It was six months or more postpartum before my hair started falling out. It stopped at 12 months postpartum.

it's normal. my hair did that til he was like 9 months old. only for me, it started when he was around 6 months. it's because your hair really didnt fall out (natural shedding) when youre pregnant. it sucks :(

Yep I have thick black hair that comes past my shoulders. When I wash my hair I can pull clumps out too. But my hair in no way gets thinner. I just keep taking my vitamins and grows like crazy even though a lot of it comes out when I comb it dry or wet. Its perfectly normal.

hi

I lost hair from being 10 weeks pregnant ( always one to be different!) !! it slowed down when i reached 30 weeks. It went thin but i never went bald so dont worry. It started to fall out again when my son was about 5 months old and it still sheds now and hes 16 months. Dont panic its just your hormones hun. I have lots growing back all the time !!! xx

Totally normal! I lost a TON of hair when baby was 3-5 months. Nothing to worry about - except clogging the sinks and vacuum! lol

very very normal. Mine started to fall out about 2 months after Eleanor was born. For me it wasnt all over just like from the top sides. I looked like I was turning into an old man so I just NEVER wore my hair up. My cousin lost all of hers around her hair line to about 1 1/2 inches in. Both of ours grew back and is just fine now. If you are worried you are losing TOO much then just check with your doctor. They can reassure you or get you some sort of help if they think it is abnormal:) I am sure its normal though. The Joys of pregnancy are never ceasing! LOL

Completely normal. While you're pregnant, your body puts certain unessential body functions on hold, and one of those is the shedding of hair. Once the pregnancy hormones leave your system (which is around the 3-4 mos mark), your body goes into overdrive for shedding the excess hair. Mine started around 3-4 mos post-partum and lasted about 3-4 mos. My hair still seems to shed pretty easily but not as much as it used to. If you're breastfeeding, I'd recommend still taking a pre-natal vitamin as this can help some. If you're not breastfeeding, check with your doctor or your daughter's ped, but you should be able to take Selenium. It's an OTC vitamin that helps strengthen your nails and your hair roots. I've taken before when a medication caused my hair to fall out, and it really helped me. Good luck, it will pass!

yes totaly normal. my hairdresser told me to take some vitamines it would help. she said that the lack of a certain vitamine was the cause of this. i didn't for some reason i dont remember, but it stops after a couple months.

Yep, totally normal. During pregnancy, hair gets thicker.. your body is now just shedding that extra hair. It will probably last a couple of months (at least that's what happened with me).
