...can someone give me some advice on formula? The Dr. recommended Nutremigen but that is horribly expensive and derived from milk. Does any one know if soy would work?

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

My son was not doing well on normal formula as well, and we switched to Similac Soy. It has been great. Not alot of gas or fussiness. Putting on weight normally. You pretty much just have to try one and if doesn't work, try something else. Every baby is different and sometimes the docs can be wrong too. You can buy small amounts to see if it is right for him. Good luck!

Vicki, My son has this allergy as well!
It is an absolute Nightmare! Be prepared to read read read! As far as formula im not sure as I am breast feeding my 9 month old but I just wanted to say, be careful using soy, as people with milk protien allergies are also usually allergic to soy, they go hand in hand... have you tried Similac Alimentum Hypoallergenic Formula. thats the only one I was told my son could have, and it too is incredibly expensive!
I also just wanted to let you know do tons of research, because there are tons of different names for "milk protein" and it is hidden in the craziest of things.
Good luck, if you have anymore questions about it feel free to ask if I can find the website I use I will post it,
Also my dr has warned me this allergy is even worse then nuts, because of it being hidden...... Also make sure when you start cereals ( if you havent already) read the labels as the cereals that are just add water contain skim milk powder!
Good Luck!Quoting Vicki:
