Need advice for new mother

I am working on a baby shower gift where I am collecting advice from Mothers which I am compiling into a cute book. I have a six month old and I am constantly think 'Why didn't someone tell me this!" - so that is how this idea developed. I am looking for advice on sleeping, eating/ nursing/ pumping/ introducing formula...and nurturing both Mom and Baby. My friends experience will be different from my own as she is going to back to work (a doctor in the residency phase of schooling, yikes right!). Even if your advice is "don't listen to anyone's advice" I would love to hear it!!!

I would absolutely second the me time idea - but you don't even have to go anywhere. Drop the little one off with a friend or relative for a couple hours and just hang out at home if you want. Also, buy a blanket made for swaddling. Experts can do it with a recieving blanket, but my swaddler saved me, and really helped my baby sleep longer than two hours at a time!

I have a 11 month old, on the pumping thing hot shower always helped before I pumped.
when my daughter was first born I would wrap myself in her blanket she slept on to get my smell on it, it soothed her and helped her sleep.
Now that she is a lil older I'll pop her blanket in the dryer for about a minute to heat it up before I lay her on it..she really likes it.
Biggest advice I give new moms, dont feel bad about taking time to yourself. Have a night out with your husband or go get your nails done and shop with a friend. you will be a better mom if you get some me time.
