I was reading the post above this comment, and my pedi told me it is only normal for babies to go one to two days MOST without pooping otherwise it'll REALLY hurt when they do finally because there is soo much backed up. I would definitely call your son's doctor for HIS advice on this one.

I was told if you are breastfeeding they can go up to 10 days without pooing. My little man normally goes once every 6-7 days. But when he was a newborn he used to grunt all the time and I always thought he was trying to poo so I ask my doctor and she said sometimes they do it just to get comfy which I still think is weird but I guess it could be right. They said that constipation is a lack of fluids and the body drains the fluids away from there bowels resulting in constipation. My son is just coming through a bad thing of constipation I just upped the times I breastfed him until it passed and he got it out but I wouldn't worry if it has only been a day or so.

Mylicon is gas medicine that is safe for babies of any age, that may help; if its constipation, if baby is atleast 3 months you can try either prune, pineapple, or pear juice ( 1 teaspoon every 6 hours as needed) which will help. or put a little lube on a thermometer and put like your gonna take baby's temp rectally and that should also help get things moving. Good luck!

my son had the same problem at that age....he was on soy, he was a very big boy when he was born....10lbs 6 oz and the doc said since he was a good weight i could give him some gas drops...it worked wonders! dont know what your babies size is but i would sure ask if he could take these...hope this helps.
