Night time feedings?

At what age did your baby stop getting up at night to eat? At this time how many hours was he/she sleeping thru the night without eating? Did he/she make this transition on their own or did you use some sort of technique to accomplish this?

My son is 3 months old and he just began sleeping through the night this last week. He eats then goes to bed around 9:30p - 10:00p. He wakes around 5:30a - 6:30a to eat then he goes back to sleep for about an hour.

my 21 month old was about 2 months old when he started sleeping thru the night (from about 9:30pm till about 8am) i helped him along with this by gradually skipping middle of the night feelings and also by giving him just a little bit of rice cereal at night right b4 bed and i also put him to bed while he's awake and without a bottle i've heard that it you let them put themselves to sleep it makes them better sleepers and i think this is true he now sleeps till about 10am

My daughter is 8 months and has been sleeping through the night since 2 weeks. She didn't fully transition to sleeping all night every night until almost 2 months. Me and my hubby never purposely did anything to start that but we made sure to change her diaper first then feed her with minimal lighting. The second thing we did was put her in her own room as soon as she was 2 months. We noticed she would stir or wake whenever we talked or came to bed. She sleeps from 6 or 7 until between 7-9. It's been almost the same schedule just off here and there.

Our 7mo goes down around 8pm, is fed around 11, and again around 4 or 5am. No sleeping through the night for us!

My little girl still doesn't sleep through the night every night she has done it a few times but tends to wake me up at about 4am for a feed after going done about 8pm. She has started this on her own, I think that each child is different and will achieve it in their own time. Hope this helps

My son made this wonderful transition on his own at about 3 wks!!! He sleeps from 10p.m.-6a.m.!! About 7-8hrs STRAIGHT!! He will be 2 months on the 10th of August. The only down fall I'm still stuck on the being up till 3 a.m. schedule from the first 3 weeks. :( So I get about 3-4 hrs of sleep a night.

my son is 8months old and still doesn't sleep all night. he wakes usually once anywhere between 2am and 3:30am to eat. he's breastfed so this is pretty normal and i trust he'll sleep all night when he's ready to.

From the time Bryce was 1 month until he turned 3.5 months, he slept from 7 PM to 5:30 AM, then fell back to sleep until I woke him at 7 AM. But then he got a little cold, then he started teething and that pattern went out the window. At around 5 months, he started sleeping from 7 to 7 waking up 2 to 3 times a night. (He pretty much always sleeps from 7 to 7, he just wakes up a lot.) He is 8.5 months now, and waking up almost every hour to 2 hours, for about a month now. His ped. said it was do to teething, but that was 3 weeks ago. I think he is having tummy issues. So I guess I will see how long this lasts. Hopefully not too long, because I am dead tired!

50% of babies continue to wake for a night feed until 12 months old. With babies over 9 months who are waking once a night a dream-feed usually tides them over until morning.

Most babies sleep at least a 5 hour stretch of midnight to 5am between 12-14 weeks. By 6 months most babies sleep at least 6-8 hours.

Sleep training is appropriate when your baby is over 6 months and is not sleeping longer than a few hours at a time.

How old is your baby?

My daughter slept 8hrs straight from about 8 weeks. Now at 9 months she sleeps about 11 hours. She has generally always been a good sleeper but I also aided her sleep skills by trying to put her in bed awake to self settle (which was hard because she often fell asleep feeding) and letting her cry (depending on the situation and the type of cry she was doing). I would leave her for up to 15 minutes. Sometimes I would try shushing or rocking the bassinet (but I tried not to rock often only if I was really desperate for her to sleep!). I also recorded whenever she did sleep and eat so that I could notice her particular pattern. When she was a little older i noticed she liked to rub things on her face when she was going to sleep so I gave her a blanket. She rubs that on her face and sucks on it (gross I know!) to go to sleep. I've heard though that babies are physically able to sleep through the night (and by that they mean 6-7hours) by 6 months so if your's is younger than 6 months, don't worry, he/she just might not be ready and still needs those night feeds. If your child is older though, maybe you have to evaluate if they really are hungry or if they just want to spend time with you.
