No amount of formula is enough!

We started cereal at 4 months due to my daughter being hungry all the time. Her doctor said rice cereal only and to add it to the formula in her bottles. It really did help with her hunger. We started fruits and veggies at 6 months and meat at 7 months. She is very healthy!

have you thought about giving /starting rice cereal and solids? if he is a supported sitter he may be ready for a small amount. my 5 month old has been on about 3tablespoons a day(two portions) for at least a months, and i had started at about 3.5mon with like 1.5 tablespons a day.

my daughter always had a lot of formula..you sound just like i did! i was so nervous thinking something was wrong! or she would get too much!!
my ped. just said if she is hungry feed her....she will know when to stop!!! she is now 7 months old and eating 2 jars or baby food at each feeding!

That sounds almost normal to me.. But then again my son is ten months old..
My little one was eating around four to five ounces every two to three hours at three months old.

If your super worried you can always go to your doctor. They will let you know if anything is wrong. :)

My litlte girl, 3 months and one week just went through a grow spur and she was feeding practically all day, every hour or half an hour. And every 3 hours at night. It seemed I wasn't producing enough milk (I breastfeed), anyway, she past this stage and now sleeps 3 hours during the day and 4-6 at night.

At 7 oz every 3 hours round the clock - that is 56 oz a day and that sounds like too much. Multiply his weight by 2.5 and that should be the ballpark of what he should have.

Nikki I have always wondered about that cereal in the bottle thing.... I've kind of noticed its an american thing. No one here in Australia has ever mentioned it to me. But I was of the same thinking as you..... liquids goes in a bottle.... solids go in a bowl !

my son was the same way.just make sure he at least goes 3 hours at a minimum.my doctor told me that and try to keep him at 7oz. for a good solid month and check in with a doctor.just keep an eye on his weight if he goes over 100 percentile then he'll be considered over weight, but don't worry my son was 91 percentile for the longest time and then dropped down to 89 and up to 95 in height. it will all work out :) no baby is the same.he's sounds like a big healthy boy like mine ♥

DONT PUT CEREAL IN THE BOTTLE-- its a choking hazard and your baby needs to distinguish solids from liquids

It is not recommended to start solids til 6 months unless your ped tells you otherwise we started at 4.5 months bc my son was eating 12 oz a feed at that point, now thats excessive!!! 7 ounces is normal for a 3.5 month old, also babies go through growth spurts and cluster feed and can eat all day long. I'd wait til you talked to your ped and see what they say

If and when you do start cereal feed it with a spoon, if your baby accepts it they are ready if they spit all of it out wait they are not ready for solids just yet. Also cereal can make babies very constipated so if you rush it youll have a baby who is not ready to process solids, and is constipated and is hungry and then you'll never get any sleep

my daughter is almost 3 months and drinks more then that, some people tend to put the baby rice cereal in the bottle, but if you think your baby is eating to much then start feeding him baby cereal.

I had to start feeding my daughter solids at 4 months, so maybe your son has had a growth spurt and give it a few more weeks for his digestive system to mature more and start him on some baby rice...take it one thing at a time,dont mix foods until you know he has no allergies. They do say babies shouldnt have solids until 6 months old, but every child is different. Hes still a bit young for full on solids, so baby rice would be a good start.

I would start him on solids and he should go further between bottles and hopefully start sleeping at night although its not uncommon to not be sleeping through yet at that age

sounds perfectly normal to me. My sis lil boy is 2 1/2 months old and is on 7oz every feed. every 3-4 hours. you could try a whey protein formula before bed, but only for the one before bed not all day as it just fills thier bellies up. Aptimil is a good one. Or put him onto hungrier baby milk.
