That sounds completely normal to me. My boys didn't really have the baby acne thing too bad but my nephew did very very bad. And the poop color and consistency sounds completely normal. But always keep in mind if you are unsure of anything call your babys pediatrician!! That's what they are there for.

Watery yellow poo is very normal for breastfed babies, as is acne at that age.

The stringy bits though, if they are mucousy, suggest a possible reaction to something you are eating, or a lactose overload. It may just pass, or you might want to have a chat to a breastfeeding counsellor with La Leche League or the australian Breastfeeding association for thoughts. Nothing to worry about though, and good on you :)

I am breastfeeding my second child. And the whole worrying about the fatty content of milk its not really a big deal. Instead of one boob at a time tho, do 15 mins each side then you will have a more even flow and less engorgement which is much more comfortable for you. Idk how long you plan to BF but I did a year the first time and plan that this time too.



Now the poop....sigh...my son is 3yo and my daughter 4 months. It had been so long since I had dealt with with breast milk poop. My dr and the instructor for a newborn class I took with my son told me as long as there if no blood, and one poop every 3-4 days, the baby is fine. Keep extra clothes for the baby and you. My son exploded everywhere several times and my daughter had a couple times.



PS the seeds are good cuz that helps get bilirubin out of babies and reduce/prevent jaundice. Good luck!

Thank you Sarah-I did just start remembering to burp him agree each feeding! I also keep freaking out about everything that could possibly go wrong-is he breathing normal? Having a seizure? Getting enough nutrition from the foods I'm eating? Not sleeping enough? Ect. Lol, I think I'm just driving myself nuts-worrywart. :)



Thank you Heather, that website was VERY informative! YOUR (?) colored poop chart was great! What I'm seeing must be the 'seedy' part... It just turned green two days ago, but I think it's because I just use whichever one is harder & don't switch him, so he might just be getting more foremilk instead of hindmilk... Which could also be a good reason he can't sleep through a whole night with it being thinner?

Sarah, I completely agree with you!! I realize looking back how blissfully ignorant I was with my first... I had to start over with which child. And of course, it didn't help that they were each so gosh-darn different...

My third just turned 18 months and I still feel like a new mom sometimes. Sometimes I think I have gotten worse with each child. I know much more now, so now instead of seeing just a simple cold (which usually that is what it is) I see ear infection potential, or pnemonia (sp) even though none of my kids have been prone to either. It is also amazing how fast you forget what you did before......I had to laugh at myself when I was in the hospital with my 3rd. First time I fed her and I totally forgot to burp her. You would think that that would just be something that came naturally with the 3rd.

That sounds normal. Breastfed babies often have more of a yellow runny poop. Baby acne is common in newborn babies. It will go away, just bathe him normally. There is nothing you can really do to prevent it. Another normal thing that may happen with newborn babies is craddle cap. It is like dandruff on their skin (usually on the sculp). Combing their hair (even if they don't have any/much helps). But this also will pass. Just normal things that happen with newborns as their bodies adjust to being outside of the womb and the change of hormones from the both of you to just them. For you a normal thing that may happen is lose of hair. This usually happens around 2-3 months post partum. It may or may not happen....out of my 3 pregnancies I lost hair after 2 of my pregnancies. Don't worry it does grow back, just don't freak if it happens.
