There is nothing wrong with using it as long as you use it in small quantities and do not exceed the recomended doseage. I use it sometimes with my son, who is 6 months old with 5, almost 6 teeth. I agree with Sara, it doesn't last long. But it works fast. You should really just go by what you feel is best. Everyone has there own opinion on what's best. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I have read that you have to be careful when feeding a baby after they are given orajel because it can impair their swallowing reflex by numbing their throat then they swallow the orajel. I have also read that it doesn't help that much or last very long. My pediatrician told me to give my baby infant Motrin, which seems to help her when she seems really fussy.

I heard that it isn't recommended anymore because studies show that it hardens the gums and it actually hurts more for the babies when the teeth come through. But my advice would be to speak to your doctor or a dentist, they will probably have the best answer. You can take a look at the website at the bottom I would find this helpful in deciding as well. My daughter is only 7 weeks old, but I thought that this is a great question because everyone comes to teething time and I have always known orajel to be a safe pain reliever for the babies. My mom fostered many babies and she used it on all of them! Take a look: http://www.hippiedippiebebe.com/health/o...
