My husband and I have tried to have sex, but it was so painful I was in tears and we couldn't do it. It's been 6 weeks. I did rip a bit and had a couple stitches, which have healed. I was wondering if any other moms had this experience and how long should this last? Should I just deal with the pain or is there anything to help? Thanks!! We are both frustrated.

I was in the same boat as you. I tore a little bit. My stitches healed and I had six for the first time about 5 weeks I think. It was more painful then I had thought it was going to be. I was extremely tender down there. Lubrication helped a lot. I honestly didn't start to feel normal with the whole sex thing till here recently which is 10 weeks after birth as of now. I feel perfectly fine down there and sex is really enjoyable. I would suggest getting some none irritating lubrication if your set on just having sex even if it hurts. Might make the pain bearable, but in my opinion I would wait a little more if its that uncomfortable. I know my husband was really concerned about not wanting to cause me any pain and was fine with waiting a little longer for sex. Oh by the way I was also given Premarin cream to put down there to help the tenderness go away, might be something you could ask your doctor about.

i'm still haveing this problem close to 5 months later... really truns you off.. and the doctor said i'd be losier lol haha i asked the doctor she told me just to keep trying

My midwife and the doctors said to try lubricant and lots of it.
I tore a little and had 11 stitches. I waited 10 weeks before I had sex again just so that all the healing had finished and my body had extra time to heal. Maybe try to lubricant and see how it goes, gently, and if that fails try waiting a little longer. Both helped me

Our midwives recommended lubrication at first. It was a little painful in the beginning and remained uncomfortable for a long time. Our daughter is a year old, and sex has really only begun to be fun again about 2 months ago. I have read that the fact that I am nursing might cause dryness and that sex may be different because of that. Don't get too frustrated! I hope you find ways to make it better for you.
