I am looking for a form of permanant birth control that does not involve surgery. My husband wants me to get something done because I have trouble with my periods anyway and was told I could probably get an ablaision done at the same time. I need some help finding a good kind. HELP!!! We are sick of using condoms!!! I also have a lot of trouble with birthcontrol pills as they make me sick and most of them make me have my period for like 20 days.

i would recommend mirena its inserted inside and is good for 5 years! and its removeable so if you do decide you want to have more kids down the road you can just take it out i have it and i would highly recommend it!!!

Essure - it's new and similar to a tubal ligotomy but is an in office procedure. A "coil" is inserted thru the cervix into the fallopian tubes that promotes tissue growth. This causes your tubes to grow sealed not allowing an egg to be passed for fertilization to occur. It takes three months for the growth to completely close the tubes so you would have to use an alternate method of birth control during that time. It is a permanent fix. I looked into it but can't do hormonal b/c so chose the tubal instead.

I just had a laproscopic tubal ligation with clips. I was back to work after 4 days. It was not that bad. There is no such thing as permanent without surgery. I too hated pills and the depo shot made me gain weight and the doctor said it takes away bone density.

I had a coil, to start with, it was really unpleasant to have it in. to make things worse it made my period really heavy and painful. I had to have it removed after 6 months. I don't recommend that.

I have a friend that had a coil put in vaginally no surgery involved and than the skin grows over it but I am always scared of having something put into my body.

Permanent birth control without surgery??? You'll need to ask the b/c fairy for that one.

Personally, I am using Mirena and have hardly any periods. It is good for five years, so I am buying time until I make a more final decision.
