I had my son on May 1st 2009! I had an IUD(mirena) put in at my 6 week post-partumn visit its now been almost 3 months and I am still bleeding on a regular daily basis...is this normal? What if any other problems are people having?

i had this put in a long time ago for a year and had to have it taken out as i was spot bleeding everyday.....now my wee one is 11mnths and they are advising me to have it back in again as i can't take anything else.I'm not having it done as it was hell.....i'm trying to get them to sterilise me as i don't want anymore kids, and they are not keen to do this either, so i am at a loss at the moment as well

yes this is normal, i bleed for 5 months after i had mine done it was awfull but i guess its just another thing us women have to go tho lol

i had mirena put in at 6 weeks and i bled for like 12 weeks straight lol, but now im back on scheadule and its coming once a month for about 2-3 days at a time, and it shorter and lighter then before i got prego :) i think its normal cuz some peoples bodies need time to get used to the hormones being introduced to their bodies :)

i had mirena put in 6 weeks after baby. i was tempted to get it taken out because i was bleeding everyday for a couple of months....... (more like slow heavy spotting). It has actually stopped completely now. if your bleeding is heavy you can speak to your doctor and they may suggest you could take a mild dose contraceptive pill until the bleeding settles and hopefully that sould stop it altogether or at least regulate your normal cycle

I am thinking about having this same contraceptive, the regular bleeding sounds normal to me sometimes it doesnt have the same effect on people as in others, meaning some people find the bleeding stops completely other find it becomes heavier and more painful and for others it stays the same.
whilst talking to me GP however he did say that the IUD (mirena) should not be put in till the baby has been born for 12 weeks.
if you feel that its really not normal and you feel uncomfortable about the bleeding talk to your doctor they know whats going on with it better than anyone else
