screams and cries during nap outta nowhere?

When my daughter is taking her nap she will sometimes wake up crying really loud and it just started happening in the last 2 weeks..We normally dont hear her cry like this it is really high and shrieky. When i come over to her i will calm her down and talk to her. She will have real tears coming down her face, but when i get done talking to her for a minute she will usually pass right back out into a deep sleep. So i was wondering if she is maybe having bad dreams or she is starting to teeth. She is also chewing on everything and drooling away. We go to the drs on the 4th so maybe i will ask her. Does anyone elses baby cry like that when they are taking a nap? If you can please help i feel horrible! Thanks

My son has done that a few times during the daytime naps. Just suddenly yell really loud, but stays asleep the whole time. Startled us the first few times he did it! He hasn't cried with tears, though. I would guess either gas pains or nightmares?

She may be having gas pains .. my daughter did that and we started giving her mylicon drops .. i'm not sure if i spelled it right .. but she did it all the time just out of no where, she would just cry or be loud and then she would stop. it can affect babies in many ways. they say when babies have gas pains it hurts really bad.

My son does the same thing. It freaks me out. I feel so bad for him. Not sure why they do that. It's the saddest thing ever.

My son would do that if he would fall asleep in my arms and I would lay him down, then a little while later he would wake up screaming, I think it was because I wasn't there because if I lay him down awake and he falls asleep on his own he doesn't do it!!

It could be bad dreams which wont usually last long at all and they usually put themselves back to sleep or it could be gas pains. Thats what used to wake up my baby. For that i recommend bending their legs like a bicycle and/or rubbing their bellies in addition to talking to them.

My little did that in the middle of sleep too. Eyes would be wide open and screaming like nothing I'd ever heard before. Scared the living daylights out of me everytime. I finally realised that he was okay and usually settled himself, he was just having a nightmare! It went on, not all the time, for a couple of months and I haven't noticed an episode like that for a couple of months now. I'm sure all is fine if your baby settles down but good idea to mention it to your doctor. Good luck.

She could be teething. If so, you can try baby tylenol or baby orajel (if she's old enough). My lo does that when she has nightmares. So heartbreaking!
