How long has everyone waited to have sexual intercourse? I know 6 weeks is recommended but did anyone do it early? And was everything ok if you did? What are the things that can go wrong?

The reason 6 weeks is the recommendation is because you could still be open and could possibly get an infection, but I think that's just a precaution. You are also very very fertile. But like everyone has said, it all depends on your comfort.

i waited 8 weeks even though I had the go ahead from dr at 6. I had an episiotomy and even though the desire was there and I felt healed actually doing it turned out to be extremely painful it wasnt until 3 month mark that it began feeling good again. but most of my friends started again well before the recommended 6 weeks without any problems.

Thank you all for your help. I am in my 6th week, and we did partake around the fourth week, closer to the fifth, and then again in the 5th right before the 6th. I asked because it seems to make me bleed more. I also am very close to being a red head, and bled quite a bit. I am also still in a bit of pain. I had a 9 pound 5 oz. baby and had a couple tears, but they were too small to sew up

My doctor told me to resume sex whenever I myself felt comfortable. After my 4 yr old, it was like 3 wks after and with my now 3 month old, well he was deployed when she was born so i had no choice but to wait the whole 6 wks. Really there isnt much that can "go wrong" aside from the fact that you are SUPER fertile around this time!

Me and my man only waited 2 weeks. Im a red-head, so the doctors were concerned about bleeding, so i was in hospital for 5 days on Oxytocitn to make the uterus contract faster, so my bleeding had stopped at about 9 days. As long as its comfortable, and no clots, it'll be fine.I also didnt rip or tear at all. which helped me heal twice as fast.

we waited about 10 weeks, just because I had quite a bit of damage from the birth and was quite nervous, it felt a bit wierd and uncomfy at first but its all good now, take it slowly and relax! Do it when your completly ready there is no rush. My midwife said it was ok after 3weeks!!! no thankyou.....

you need to wait at least a few weeks until the heaviest of the bleeding has calmed down - i can't imagine either of you would really be in the mood any earlier any way. and the most probable thing to go wrong is that the baby wakes up right in the middle. good luck.

Well I had a C Section that went without a hitch and although it was a little sore for a little while, my hubby and I had our first "encounter" hehe at about 3 weeks and it was fine. You just have to go a little easy and make sure that your partner is gentle with you :)

Although i haven't tried it. but my doctor told me i can do it four weeks after delivery and nothing would go wrong so long is a normal delivery you had.
