My daughter is 6 months old and still wakes up every hour. She has recently started waking up and is really restless and it takes about an hour to soothe back to sleep. I dont know if it is her reflux, the tracheomalacia, the fact that she aspirates milk and gastric contents into her lungs so that she is coughing that wakes her up.... but I am exhausted

Crying it out doesnt work, she just starts choking and coughing (plus she is stubborn and will not stop crying for hours and hours) She has her own room (though usually moves into bed with me at a certain point because i have to get a little sleep). I've tried baths, I've tried feeding her rice and baby food at night so that her stomach is fuller.

She does this during the day too. Yesterday for example, she took two, 15 minuet naps all day... and wouldnt go to sleep until midnight. Then woke up every hour during the night.

She is on Prevacid and I know it can sometimes cause Insomnia (nursing student) and I've tried talking to the doctor's and nurses about why she is doing this. They keep 'shutting me down' and telling me it was probably because of Thanksgiving... however she has done this since she was born.

I know every baby is different... but it just seems like it isn't right.

Normally your instincts are right. If you really feel there is something wrong, go to another doctor.

When do you put her to bed in relation to feeding her? Does she feed first, then have her play/awake time, then go to bed? If she is feeding and then going straight to bed it may be causing problems.

You can place blankets UNDERNEATH the mattress at the top of the crib to elevate to a 45 degree angle. This helps some babies with reflux sleep better.

What does she sleep in? Do you still wrap her? I wrapped until 12 weeks, then changed to a grobag. But due to my baby continually waking up, I have reverted to wrapping him for his naps and it has worked wonders (he's 5.5 months). I use a flat cot sheet and wrap him tightly. At night I still use the grobag.

I would be insistent with the doctors/nurses and try and get some help. Good Luck
