Still Bleeding..?

I gave birth march 1st and as of today I'm still bleeding. Is that normal or that a bad thing?

My girlfriend said she bled for 3 months but that was because they left some placenta in, so you may want to have that checked. You also may be overdoing it, try taking some time to do NOTHING but rest.

its been 9wks since i had my daughter and im still bleeding too. I told the doc at my 6 wk check and also the consultant as i lost a lot of blood after delivery like yourself and theyve given me anti-biotics which i finished last week but im still bleeding. Gona hav a trip back to the docs cos im getting sick of it now

Yes I bled for that long, slowly I ended up having less blood until it was like a very light period. Do not worry as the doctor sees many women in that situation and it is normal.

I haven't experience this, but it sounds like (from what they told me to watch for after delivery) there is still some of the placenta left in your uterus. I would contact your doctor. Your doc told you it was normal at 6 weeks, but since its 3 weeks later, I would want to consult them about it.
Hope you find out whats causing this!

I cant say this has happened to me, but a friend of mine had heavy bleeding and lost allot of blood with her first child. He was a twin, but she miss carried the twin in earlier stages and was told to do a curete (however its spelt) to solve her problem with bleeding, they weren't going to let her leave. She refused insisting that she was still infact pregnant, luckily her husband who is a massive guy escorted his wife out of the hospital with compleate faith in her. Anyways cutting a long story short, yes she was still pregnant and delivered a healthy baby boy. But she continued heavy bleeding again, it continued for a few months before she had a proper check up which reaveled that some of the placenta had not been removed after her son was born.
She had serious complications and bleed continuously for almost a year. They tried everything to stop the bleeding, eventually they did. At the cost of her loosing half her uterous and told she'll never bare children again...
She now has a daughter...
I thought I'd share this with you, because she is so amazing and keeps batteling through everything this system throws at her, she's a wonderful person, sister and friend. And she's lived through a complete miracle.
You may want to investigate further, if your still feeling worried. Trust in your body.

Yeah I've been on iron pills since I had him as I lost 700ml of blood. The bleeding has slowed down but not a great deal. I was going to have a IUD but I got told you bleed with that too so thinking about the pill again.

I had a similar problem with my first baby. I bled for 7 weeks pretty heavy. For a few months after that I would bleed for 3 weeks with one week off - not a normal period. My doctor prescribed me a stronger dose of my birth control pills. Again after a few months of that not helping they finally did a DNC. It worked - I had normal periods after that.



My question to you is - has the bleeding slowed down? Are you taking any iron pills? The iron pills will help you from getting anemic. If you are that concerned about it, make an appointment with your doctor and discuss your situation in person.
