most of the infant sunscreen bottles say 6 months or older, but I put it on my son at 5 months and he was fine...I guess it depends on skin sensitivity...but as far as the chlorine goes...at 4 months I put my son in the pool with me at the gym and he did fine...again I think it's more about skin sensitivity....I found that he tolerates the pool far more when he has had a really good nap and full tummy....the pool really wears the little ones out pretty fast.

My daughter is 7 months and my dermatologist said I could start putting sunscreen on her at 4 months at my last visit. I don't know about the pool thing but if the weather had been better on our vacation last weekend she would have been in the pool as well. I use the Aveno baby 55 spf sunscreen, it's in a tan bottle with a purple cap.

My doctor said absolutely no sunscreen until 6 months. My next door neighbor has a friend whose Mom had good intentions and slathered a 3 month in sunscreen. Had to be rushed to ER and was in hospital for a week. Check with your doctor! If you want to take your baby swimming prior to 6 months, they make a cute baby raft. Its a circlular float with the diaper sling to hold them in and it has a shade tent over it. I got it at Babys Rr Us. I also bought a little tent with a padded mattress for the beach or poolside.
